よくラットンロールとか言ってますけども、それはステファンの歌い方次第です。
またウォーレンのギターは時代とともに変化して来てます。

ニュアンスは変わりませんが、フレーズは初期の頃と比べると変わったような気がします。
（ハーモニクスなどが変わったような気がします）

ただ、全曲を通して非常にノリノリで、80年代とは異なり、今風のノリノリ感です。
（とは言え聴く人からすれば今も昔も同じRATTですね）

難を言えば昔のロビン時代にようなツインギターでは無くなっているのが少しさびしいです

頭3曲が良いので、勢いで最後まで聞いちゃえます。
アップテンポの曲が主体でギタープレイもカッコ良く、「これが聞きたかった」と嬉しくなります。
本作のレコーディング時、メンバーは40代後半～50歳くらいだったようですが、中年ロッカーの意地を見せた快作です。

ただ、ミディアムテンポの曲でこれといった曲が無いという欠点もあるかな。
ラットは過去に「ウォンテッドマン」「レイ・イット・ダウン」等、ミディアムテンポで良い曲を作ってきたので、このアルバムにもミディアムテンポの良曲が入って入れば聞き所が多くなったんじゃないかと。
(4曲目や 7曲目などミディアムテンポ曲はあるんだけど、もう一つ印象に残らなかった)

2010年にこういうアルバムを作れるなら、もう少しコンスタントにアルバムリリースしてくれると有難いですね。

８０年代に全世界を席巻したＬＡメタルの元祖Rattの復活作です。
フラッシーなギターソロ、煌びやかな衣装、適度な攻撃性と相反する大衆性、
全てを兼ね備えていた彼らの約１０年振りの新作は

「完璧な完成度！大いなる復活劇！！」

この言葉で集約するしかないです。

１曲目「Eat Me Up Alive」の鋭利なギターリフが始まった瞬間に諸手を挙げてバンザイ
するしかないでしょう、これだけのアルバムを出されては。

彼らの代表曲「Morning after」、「Round and round」、「Back For More」、「Wanted Man」・・・
初期の彼らの音楽性を２０１０年の現在にアジャストした楽曲が並ぶこのアルバムは
ＬＡメタルって何？っていう方にも是非とも聴いてもらいたい一枚です。

この時代においてギターソロがギターソロとして機能しているのも特筆に値すると思います。

RATTのアルバムを探してサーフィンしてたら見つけたのですが、サウンドもRATTらしく曲調も今風でとても気に入ってます。是非、RATTファンならずとも聴いてみてください！　Nickel backを彷彿させます。

中古で見掛け(リリース時、雑誌のレビューが好意的だったな)と思い出し、反射的に購入。
ラットに思い入れは無いが、良いロックを聴きたかった。
これが大正解！
80年代型の楽曲を、惜しみ無く披露してくれている。ポップさとハードさのバランスがちょうど良い。

ただ、帯の文が、内容に懐疑的で印象が良くない。
せっかく良い作品なのに、ラットに失礼だ。

If there is one word that describes this album it is: "SOLID". I agree with the other reviewers, this is one of the best albums Ratt has put out to date. All the songs are great, there are no fillers. Ironically the release song "Best Of Me" is one of the weaker songs on the album, but I think the band wanted to release something poppy and catchy. The rest of the songs are more powerful, heavier. All songs are fast paced, none slow, one balad but good. I think this is what the band describes by the album going back and being similar to their earlier albums. In terms of energy it is. Nothing will sound the same as "Invasion of Your Privacy" or "Reach For The Sky" or "Dancing Undercover". It was a different time, a different genre, a different age for the band members. It would be hard to expect something similar to those albums. Now is now, and this album is great. It is hard to stop playing. It's hard to pick the best song on the album because there are some great ones. Thanks Bobby Blotzer for your song contribution, "Look Out Below" and "Don't Let Go" are great songs, "Lost Weekend" (Robbie Crane contribution), "As Good As It Gets" (thank you Stephen). The guitar riffs from Warren DeMartini are great as ever, the soulful guitar that has always characterized this band is definitely there in every song. Stephen sounds awesome. My personal opinion is that the album actually sounds a lot like the 1999 release of the "Ratt" album with Robbie Crane back then but faster paced and much heavier (this is by far the heaviest albums Ratt put out, as in "heavy metal"). Is it any surprise? Same band members in 1999, the same now (with the addition of Carlos Cavazo) and yes those same ingredients make the same songs now. Honestly I loved that album too. Thanks for coming back together guys!

The best songs on the album:
1. "garden of eden": favorite song on the album, Stephen is just a bad ass on this one; Lyrics: "I've got a bad reputation, and you knew it so well, yeah I give you what you need and I'm gonna take you to hell, doesn't matter how you feel, just gives you stories to tell, I'm going to take you right back, Gonna throw in the towel .... Nothing you could do, nothing you could have said, welcome to my world, in this garden of eden,... Yeah you're my addiction, between shame and temptation, Yeah you give me what I need and I like it like that!"
2. "as good as it gets": so melodic, DeMartini written all over it; Lyrics: "you kind of like me, not like that, you got me grinning like a Cheshire cat, the way you love me, I would bet, I tell you something it's as good as it gets. .. you're like a train running off the tracks, you'll always work me up to a sweat, I tell you honey, you're as good as it gets". Sounds a little bit with "Giving yourself away".
3. "lost weekend": in your face, fast paced awesome song, the drums rule; Lyrics: "Rock steady your lost weekend, I'm ready for big fun, you're mine for the taking, rock steady everyone"
4. "last call": snarling voice:; Lyrics: "last call, never turned away, last call, dance the night away, last call, have a drink on me". Sounds a bit like "Way Cool Jr" especially the ending guitar part.
5. "take a big bite": Stephen just screams his ass off on this song, way too good, so fast; Lyrics: "shake your ass baby, looking for a fight, I got nothing to do, so take a big bite"

Jedenfalls dachte ich nicht, daß mich in unserer weichgespülten Neuzeit voller Heuchelei, Kommerz und Plastikmusik noch irgendetwas Überaschen könne. Aber ich bin wirklich überascht und das ist bei mir gar nicht so einfach.

Duch Zufall bin ich gerade auf Youtube über dieses Album gestolpert. Es hat eine zeit lang gedauert, bis ich das wirklich fassen konnte. Nicht nur daß RATT zurück ist, nein. Das war abzusehen. Heutzutage kommen so manche ausgediente Bands zurück um als alte Männer noch mal schnelle Kasse zu machen. So verraten sie auch alle ihren Style und passen sich dem heutigen Standard an. Ausnahmslos ALLE. Moment.....Wirklich alle? Nein^^. Nicht Ratt! Der Sound klingt noch genauso fett wie in alten Tagen (weswegen es auch einige negative Kritiken wie "Wer will denn das heute noch hören" regnet). Echte Metaller wissen zum Glück, was von derart Unsinn zu halten ist. Die Scheibe ist der Wahnsinn. Eine Power und Riffs die nicht von dieser Welt sind. Das war der Hardrock der 80s. Und RATT ging mit dem neuen Album keine Kompromisse ein. Es klingt wie ne RATT Scheibe aus den 80s. Erbamungsloser Rock. Hart, melodisch, rifflastig, POWER. RATT ist zurück! Ich werde mir im Anschluss an diese Rezi auf jeden Fall das Album bestellen!

NACHTRAG 20.04.2012: Ich habe heute den ganzen Tag gearbeitet und heute abend das Album von der Packstation abgeholt. Ich legte es ein und die nächste Stunde war ich High. Allein schon die ersten Riffs von "eat me up alive" peitschten den Adrenalinspiegel auf den 10fachen Wert. Daß ich noch lebe, ist reine Glückssache. Und wenn ichs nicht geschafft hätte, wär ich glücklich abgetreten. Ja... ein mal alle 15 - 20 Jahre passiert etwas ganz außergewöhnliches, daß selbst jemanden wie mich in Verzückung versetzt. Es ist einfach so hammer, dass die Jungs sich nicht haben verbiegen lassen. Der Sound ist so hammer.... Ich kann das nicht beschreiben. Ende jetzt. Ich brauch ne Dusche...

If there was an example of a classic band ready to stumble at a crucial hurdle, it would have been Ratt. Wayward lead-singer, dead founding member, lacklustre albums, not to mention pretty much being inactive for the best part of two decades, you could be forgiven for thinking that things didn't bode well for this comeback.
However, if you wrote a wishlist for what Ratt HAD to do to get you to listen to them again, then they definitely fulfill it on 'Infestation': Great production, crunchy riffs, can't-get-it-out-of-your-head catchiness, tasteful shredding, Pearcy's sneer - all present and correct.
Thankfully, they now have a sympathetic producer ( Elvis Baskette ), who is obviously a fan. He knows the limitations of the Pearcy 'voice', and makes sure it's upfront and unapologetic. You hear Pearcy, and you hear the 'Ratt Sound'. So you get the patented attitude and swagger, backed up by muscular and confident music. Nothing outstays its welcome, and indeed, the album clocks in at a perfect forty-seven minutes. It doesn't hang around long enough for you to get bored.
This album is what SHOULD have followed the stunning 'Invasion Of Your Privacy', as it sits comfortably alongside those early classics. Utterly great.
