I like this album as much as The Great Unwanted, but that might be because I bought this one first. Track 3, Up In Flames, is possibly one of the most perfect just-under-three-minutes of uptempo music and lyrics ever created - clever, witty, beautifully arranged, and with finely crafted measures of both holding back and surging predictability. I'd put it on a par with Little Jackie's 28 Butts for the all-round driving in my car aural happiness factor. And we all need some of that.
I do like this album whether it's better than the first I'm not sure but in my opinion it's certainly not worse so the band have managed to get over the second album syndrome. Their sound has filled out and it does seem to be more polished it's a matter of opinion if you think this is to the detriment of their music or not but I like it. There's a nice selection of tunes on this album some slow, some real toe tappers and I think if you liked the first you'll like this.
Short review it's sunny outside I'm off to enjoy it while it lasts :)
