この新譜は、これまた情報が少ないです。。とほほ・・・
前作は全英Top10入りし、注目を集めましたが、今作は一転４０位に転落。
理由はわかりませんが、いわゆる２作目はダメという、いつもの流れではないことを祈ります。。

それよりもレビューです。
初めて聴きましたが、とても良いです♪
１曲目はジョニー・キャッシュですか？？と錯覚。。

ストリングスは美しいし、ヴォーカルも味が出てます。
ライブハウスでしっとりと聴きたいです！
ただ、若干アルバム全体として地味かなという印象も受けますが、そこがイマイチな点なのかな？？

I love Cherry Ghost. This is just as good as the other albums they made. Beautiful and melodic. Simon Aldred is a great singer and songwriter.

As I type this I hear that Cherry Ghost have NOT been listed for the 2010 Mercury Prize despite being championed by The Independent's Andy Gill who said they deserve to win it. Nay mind lads - Fine bands like Frightened Rabbit and Stornoway didn't get on the list either and who wants to be on a list with Dizzy Rascal and sponsored by Barclays Bank !
To get to the album in question...stirring stuff and no less than I expected from this under rated band who I have seen live 4 times without ever being disappointed. Simon Aldred is a great song songwriter whose angsty working class songlines are in a similar vein to geographical and label stablemates...Doves.
Kicking off with the epic 'We Sleep on Stones' quickly followed by 'A month of mornings' it's straight out the starting blocks for Simon and co. Rather suprisingly for me,the album has a fair few waltz time ballads of a C & W flavour....more so than on Thirst for Romance. They take some getting used to and first time listeners might find them dangerously close to Richard Hawley who you either love or hate. It's the latter for me. However,the quality is just too good to be be condemned to that fate.
Overall..I think TFR is the better of the two albums but this will keep existing fans more than happy without converting shed loads of new fans.

If you enjoyed Thirst for Romance,you'll love this.This guy's voice makes him sound like a hopeless romantic.Lusher production this time around,mostly mid tempo songs,in fact,that's why I nicked a star,could have used a few more uptempo tunes.All in all,smart,well executed,almost baroque sounding chamber pop that will creep on you with repeated listening.A great alternative to more Toby Keith bring crammed down your throat.

I bought Beneath This Burning Shoreline on the recommendation of a friend and on the strength of the preview tracks, and I'm certainly glad I did. The songwriting is excellent as is the playing and presentation of the album's content. From the opening track "We sleep on Stones" through "Kissing Strangers" the excellent "The Night They Buried Sadie Clay", the haunting "My God Betrays", to "Black Fang and finishing off with "Diamond in the Grind" and "Strays at the Ice Pond". Simon Aldred and the band are right on song throughout.

I just had to go and get myself Cherry Ghost's debut album "Thirst for Romance" which is every bit as good. I'm well and truly hooked.

Excellent band, excellent music and highly recommended. Go on - you know it makes sense.....
