UK double vinyl LP pressing of this self-titled album from the Rock legend containing the mono mix of the album on the first LP and the stereo mix on the second. Originally released in 1967, this deluxe vinyl reissue comprises original stereo and mono mixes of the album stunningly remastered by Peter Mew and Tris Penna at Abbey Road Studios, making this the first time that the mono mix has been available in any format since the late '60s. Decca. 2010.

ポップスの歴史に残るデビューアルバム

　60年代の作品ですが、時代の先端を行くメルヘン調社会風刺ポップスとして、これ程完成度の高い作品はない様に思えます。
　子供と大人の中間の立ち位置で歌う、”Happy land" "Silly boy blue"　などが特に好きで、チベットの子供を歌うのに臨場感が出ています。
　私も２０才の時にチベットに行った事があるので、その大らかな解放感が歌を聞くたびに思い出されます。
　ロンドンの住人のヘンテコな人生を歌ったのも多く、風刺の中にも愛情が感じられて好感が持てます。　
　ボウイのアルバムの中では控えめな方ですが、細かい音作りに手が込んでいて、デビューへの意気込みが感じられる名作です。

One reviewer has said words to the effect that those who love the later music of David Bowie, would find this album awful or quaint. However, every icon has to start somewhere, and this (and other earlier recordings from the 1967-69 era) show just how adaptable David Bowie was, yes it smacks of Anthony Newley and mostly the recordings are 'tongue in cheek' offerings, but it shows clearly David Bowie at his earliest and is an important part of his musical journey. Those who can't see that probably shouldn't buy this album. Personally I love it. I knew David at this time in his early career and it really shows his personality, which was quirky, funny, serious, purest, articulate and most of all a chameleon. He was never a rock God and never wanted to be classed in the rock genre, he was an entertainer first and foremost. His music tells stories.
