この人のメロディーセンスは凄い・・・
普通のようで普通じゃないメロディーが
あふれ出てきます。

派手さはないかもしれませんが、
シンガーソングライターのアルバムに求めるものは
そこにあります。

淡白なアルバムではありますが、ひと癖あります。
トラヴィスのファンには当然必須です。
また、バンドに比しシンプルにまとめてますが、
やはり秘めたる力をもっています。

単純に良い曲を聴きたいという方には
絶品でしょう。

　一般的にそうですが、バンドをやっている人がソロで活動する場合、
より個人的で内省的になります。
　このCDにも曇った平原をイメ−ジさせる様な暗い雰囲気が漂います。
美しい曲ばかりですが、TRAVISのような明るさはないので注意。

秋にしみる、優しい音楽

リードトラックの「Buttercups」を聴いたとき、すぐに気に入りました。しかし、今回のアルバムはTravisらしさを壊すというコンセプトのもとに作られたもの。この１曲を気に入ったのは、Travisらしい繊細でメランコリーなメロディーだったからとすれば、このアルバムのコンセプトのとおり、きちんとTravisらしい習慣を壊しきれていないのではないかとちょっと不安になりました。
結果から言って、不安になって損しました。
本当に秋らしい、石畳の中世のヨーロッパの街並みを闊歩したくなる、美しく、オトナな音楽です。
この曲がよい！というよりも、アルバム全体が流れるように素敵な時間を演出。ただただ何度でも繰り返し聴きたくなる音楽です。
そして終盤に向かって、よりスタイリッシュな音楽に。
日本盤のボートラの「ロボット」は最もTravisらしさをWreckorder（習慣を壊す、の意）した曲だと思いますので、個人的には日本盤がおすすめです。
尚、シークレットトラックとして「As　it　comes」が再度収録されております。
この曲はフランの憧れのポール・マッカートニーにベースとして参加してもらった曲ですから、この曲で締めるとはフランは本当にこの曲に対する想いが深く、嬉しかったんだろうな、と思うと微笑ましくもあります。

良いことは良い、だが。

トラヴィスの大ファンである私ですが、やはり買ってしまいました。
フランもきっと色々な思いが心にあったと思う。レディオヘッドのトム・ヨーク（私は大ファン）がソロを発表した時に語ったように、「一人で」ということを試したかったんではないか、そのようなアイデアが沢山あったのではないかと思う。
著名なミュージシャンにも参加してもらい、本人としても結果満足している様です。
しかし、個人的な感想になりますが文句を言えば「壮大さ」がもう少し欲しかった。だがこれを聴いた私は次のトラヴィスの作品が楽しみでならない。
意欲作です。

もちろん悪くはないのだが、サウンドもメロディも枯れ過ぎ。
派手な展開をしろというわけではないが、ちょっと優等生過ぎやしないか？
評論家向きというかロックおたく向きというか。
いや、正直に言おう。
退屈だ。
ロックにはアホさとか、あざとさとか、何だこれ？的なものが、あってもいい。
しかし、彼が優秀なソングライターなのは、疑いようがない。

This is a fine album. For Travis fans, it is different enough to be new, but has enough familiarity to be enjoyed by fans of the band. We saw him perform a number of tracks from this in a solo acoustic set and it was a pleasure to hear. Great album. Great songs. (My only gripe is that I wish it were longer...)

Als Travis vor kurzem Ihr siebtes Album angekündigt haben, ist mir plötzlich wieder "dieses Soloalbum von vor ein paar Jahren" in den Sinn gekommen, das es irgendwie nie in meinen Plattenschrank geschafft hat. Und ein erstes Reinhören hat mich sofort überzeugt. Typische Melodien zwischen Trauer und Zuversicht - dazu Frans liebenswürdig, leicht naive (Liebes-)lyrik. Alles, was man sich auch von einem neuen Travis-Album erhoffen würde. Also nicht so ein typisches "Ohne-meine-Band-mache-jetzt-mal-so-richtig-mein-eigenes-Ding"-Ding, mit denen manche Mitglieder erfolgreicher Bands ihre treuen Fans fordern, sondern ein rundum entspanntes Album, das ein zufriedener Frontmann während seiner "Bandpause" aufnimmt... sehr empfehlenswert!

You can hear the evolution of depression as it slowly settles over Fran Healy with each passing Travis album. From the exuberant rocking debut "Good Thing" to his first solo album "Wreckorder". Healy makes melancholy warm and inviting, if not a little dull and uninspiring.

"Wreckorder" is his first solo outing, and I purchased it with trepidation. It seems this is a new trend now--to go solo. Not that it hasn't been done before, but there seems to be an awful lot of it going around like Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, Paul Banks of Interpol, and now Fran Healy.

Fran doesn't stray too far from what he has been doing with Travis. That's not to say this is a Travis album, no, there is a sense of melodic comfort here in each song which has been missing from the past three Travis albums. "Wreckorder" is no masterpiece, and it didn't make me think Mr. Healy should abandon Travis all together.

The three best tracks are "In The Morning" with its haunting nightmarish urgency, "As It Comes" with its wry observation on a disintegrating relationship, and "Moonshine" with its shuffling tale of late night adventure. "Anything" and "Sing Me To Sleep" aren't bad either. The whole album is pleasant and holds together well. It's just that when it's all over it really isn't all that memorable. Like eating a Twinkie it tastes good at the moment and then it's quickly forgotten. Such is the case here.

I am stumped as to what I want from Mr. Healy, and Travis for that matter. You know some bands just sputter and die out because they've run their course, and they no longer have something fresh to offer. That's the conclusion I've reached with Travis/Fran Healy. It's been almost ten years since the band, or the man, have sounded interesting.

If you played this to me for the first time without telling me anything, I'd tell you this was a Travis album.

I'd be pleased, because I like Travis albums, and I'd be surprised when you told me that it was just Fran. This tells you two things.
1. Fran is the driving force behind everything in Travis, from the lyrics to the music to the production.
2. Fran wanted to record some songs with other people (McCartney for example) and he couldn't do that as a Travis album. So he did it solo.

And that's it, if you like The Invisible Band, The Man Who or The Boy With No Name (as these are the most similar in style), then you will like this.
