2011 release, the third album from the British Electro/Rock/Hip Hop/Garage outfit. Frantic, seesaw brass stabs and delay-pedal vapor trails. Eagles riding the thermals. A call and response between a flute and a girl gang. Time lapse through the seasons in Yosemite Park. A ray-gun Synth and a steel drum. Rolling Blackouts is epic and bratty, subtle and sweet. From the two-minute opening slammer of "T.O.R.N.A.D.O." to the album's title track featuring Bethany Cosentino (Best Coast), it's all restless and relentless energy. Cosentino also lends vocals to "Buy Nothing Day," a hyper girls-in-the-garage jangle, while rising Tampa rapper Dominique Young Unique dominates the psych hip-hop call and response of "Voice Yr Choice" and goes tag-team on the string-led space race of "Apollo Throwdown." Deerhoof's Satomi Matsuzaki leads the way on "Secretary Song," evoking an asymmetrical Tokyo office with elevators opening on the beat, typing in time and phones ringing in rhythm. With "Ready to Go Steady," the Team delivers their first straight-ahead love song, a nimble pocket-rocket symphony.

でしたが、何回か聴いてると不思議なことに味が出てくるんですね〜。

　ついに出た　GO TEAMの３rd.1stが衝撃的だっただけにこの手のグループ、３rdでポシャルってのが今までのパターン。多分GO TEAMもそうだろうってのが私の予想。２ndから４年　長いといやー長い。煮詰まってんだろうな　と個人的に思っていた。
　ところが・・・。一曲目からいきなりハイトーンな曲。二曲目は１８０度違ってポップで非常にやわらかい曲。これでもうノックアウト。イアン　パートンの術中。（一曲目　二曲目にこんな両極端な曲を並べてそれに違和感を覚えないのだ。すごい。）
　今はこればっかり聴いている。一日に一回は聴かないと何故かおさまらないのだ。毎回思うのだが、GO TEAMの音は脳に大量のエンドルフィンをださせるのかも？と思ってしまう。

彼らの3枚目のアルバム。レコード店で流れているときにすぐにわかりました。出遅れた自分自身を恥じながらも、早速、情報をチェックしてその日がいわゆる店着日であったことを知り、入手。
やはり、曲のさわりを聴いただけで、彼ら・彼女らの作品だとわかる点が強みです。楽しさに甘酸っぱさもあり、ロック、ポップ、ヒップホップをごった煮にした、彼らの編集感覚は、本作でも、不変です。

さいっこーに楽しいアルバムです！

とにかく1曲目から脳みそが吹っ飛ぶ感覚が味わえるアルバムです。彼らの4年ぶりの3作目になるアルバムですが、１，２作目から全くぶれていない方向性がこのバンドのワンアンドオンリーな所だと思います。しかも進化している。。テンションを上げる曲もあれば切ない映画のサントラのようなインストもあるし、女性ヴォーカルも今をときめくベストコーストのべサニーやDEERHOOFのSATOMI、他にもラッパーなどヴァリエーションに富みすぎなくらい、引き出しの多さが満載なアルバムです。1枚を通して「音を楽しむと書いて音楽という」ということを認識できる、エンタメ性にあふれるアルバム。このバンドを「ロックだ」とか「ヒップホップだ」とかカテゴライズするのは無意味。ジャンル問わず多くの音楽好きに聴かれるべきアルバムです。あ、寝る前に聞くのはやめた方がいいです。テンション上がって寝つけなくなります（笑）

レトロ感満載の先進サウンド

イングランド出身のグループ、フルレングス３作目。
２〜３年前、MTVなんかでプロモを数回見て、気にはなっていましたが、今回初めてアルバムを聴いてみました。
曲作りのベースとなっているのは、６０〜７０年代にかけてのファンク/ソウル寄りのポップスやロックで、モータウン・サウンドに近いテイストを感じます。あるいは、８０年代の、比較的オールドスクールなHIP　HOPも、楽曲を形作る土台となっています。つまり、全体的な印象としては、きわめてレトロ感を重視した作風となっているように思います。
そして、そういった空気感を更に高める要因となっているのが、アナログチックかつローファイなプロダクションです。かなり音数の多い作品なのですが、そんなサウンド・クリエーションのため、音の分離が悪く、Ｖｏを含めた各インストゥルメンツが渾然一体となって聞こえてきます。が、これは、彼らの音作りにおける計算の上に成り立つものであり、当然のことながら、制作上の拙さによるものではありません。
本作のようなレトロ感溢れる楽曲群を、ローファイなプロダクションで作り上げるという点においては、その方向性としては、MGMTやVAMPIRE　WEEKENDの２作目に近いものがあると言えるのかもしれません。が、このTHE　GO!　TEAMの場合は、各曲が更にヴァラエティに富んでいて、「音のカレイド・スコープ」とでも呼べそうなキラメキ感があります。聴いていて、心浮き立つような感覚が味わえます。
とにかく、曲がいいです。キャッチーで、耳にスイスイ入り込んできます。
ポストロック的な先進性を湛えながらも、誰もが楽しめるポップサウンドを満喫できる、そんな好作品になっていると思います。

期待を裏切られた作品です。全然おもしろくないです。このアルバムを買うぐらいなら前2作をお勧めしたいです。相当期待してたんですが全く耳に残らないアルバムでした。残念です。

costava 3 euro e l'ho preso perchè dovevo completare l'uso di un buono.
a quel prezzo, va bene così.
però ormai hanno perso lo slancio creativo.

I highly recommend that anyone give The Go! Team a listen. The fun thing about this gang that can also be misleading is that Ian Parton, founder of the band, is appreciative of music and sound from many areas and eras so the tracks that are found on the first 3 albums vary from rap, pop and instrumental. And within those categories there are differences as there may be sounds in a pop song reminiscent of the 90's or in an instrumental from the 60's. Due to some transitional elements between the 3rd and 4th albums, The Scene Between takes on mostly a pop rock flare but is still a terrific piece of work. With Rolling Blackouts as the groups 3rd album expect some really tight original sounding work. The Go! Team offers a wide variety of music so that while they have a unique style and flare you get a variety of fun tracks. I highly recommend this band.

More colourful music from the most uplifting band of recent music history. A definite step up from their previous record albeit with less reliance on samples which might feel strange to some. This would also be case (in a more extreme way) with the following album. In a way it's more of the same but with such a unique sound how can this be an issue? The packaging is a massive improvement from the first 2 records but the absence of a booklet will sure be noted by those looking for the complete physical experience.

I've been a fan of the Go! Team since day one and it always worries me that a band like this might listen to critics who say 'Same old, same old'. But this is a band who have found something they major at, so why change something that doesn't need changing?

Rolling Blackouts is a beautiful album full of uplifting tracks that make you smile, tap your foot, nod your head, and all in all, make you feel good about life.

I sincerely hope The Go! Team continue to strut their stuff.

Because they’re doing something distinctive and original, I suspect the Go! Team divide people into camps of those that love them and those that definitely don’t. Fortunately, I’m in the former category and this album is an absolute cracker: exhilarating tracks that you simply have to turn up and which carry you along in a paroxysm of joy.
Like standing under a waterfall on a hot, sticky day, this cd will uplift, invigorate and delight; buy it.
