ジェイク・ギレンホール主演、邦題『ミッション：８ミニッツ』のサントラ。
作曲は新鋭クリス・ベーコン。
スコアのみの全１６曲。

同じ８分間を繰り返しながらも、少しずつ状況が変わっていく・・・という映画なので
かなり難易度の高い音楽を要求されたはずですが、クリス・ベーコンはイイ仕事をしていると思います。

ハラハラさせるときの音楽が『ダイ・ハード』の１の音楽にソックリですが、
似ているのは、そこだけです。
静かな音楽、希望を見出すときの音楽。
緩急のある、聴きごたえのあるサントラになっています！
オススメです。

監督のダンカン・ジョーンズは、父親がデヴィッド・ボウイであることが世間にバレてしまっているので
ワザと挿入歌を使わなかったのでしょう。
サスペンスの場面も、静かな場面も、すべてクリス・ベーコンのスコアに一任されています。

ただし、１曲だけ、ヒロインが持っている携帯の着メロが中盤でちょこっとだけ流れます。
チェズニー・ホークスの“The One & Only”。
映画の内容を知っていると、これはかなり意味深で泣ける曲名です！！

本作（映画）はSFを基調としながらもアクションやサスペンス等、幅の広い内容が魅力の1つです。
ボーンシリーズを彷彿とさせるようなビートミュージックが流れたと思うと、非常にシリアスで緊張感あふれる曲が
入っていたりと音楽も作品に合わせて重厚な内容となっています。

中でも、必聴すべきは後半パートの感動系ハートフルサウンドです。これを聴くと、映画の中のドラマティックなシーンが
頭の中にハッキリと浮かび上がります。映画の世界にはヒューマン系を中心に沢山の心に残る感動作がありますが、本作も
それに負けてはおらず、音楽の力の凄さを感じます（是非聴いてみてください）。

もちろん映画を観た方がより、SOURCE CODEの世界を堪能できるかと思いますが完成度が高いので楽曲から入るのも
良いでしょう。

This is Chris Bacon's first solo score having worked with the wonderful James Newton Howard for several years. Some of JNH's quality has obviously rubbed off because this is a magnificent soundtrack.

Many of the action tracks are clearly inspired by a mixture of John Powell (with some very clear stylistic references to the amazing  Paycheck (OST)  and James Newton Howard's fantastic body of work. The use of electronics was great, and added to the surrounding orchestral arrangement rather than overpowering it. At 48 minutes in length, this is not a particularly long release, however the duration feels perfect. There is more than enough material covered that it does not feel too short, nor does it feel like the album drags. The variety of the faster paced action tracks mixed with slower orchestral tracks strikes a brilliant balance.

The slower tracks are absolutely wonderful, and there is some great woodwind writing here (that reminded me a bit of JNH's King Kong in places) and some luchious writing for piano and strings. The climax to "Frozen Moment" is clearly inspired by David Arnold's finale to the 90s blockbuster Godzilla and is probably the finest track on the album.

Overall, this is an absolutely stunning release. Sure, there are references and nods to the work of other composers, but this is in no way a distraction. Indeed this is not uncommon for new composers to nod in passing to the work of other composers who have been an influence, and it is nice to see a new composer who doesn't have that trademark Hans Zimmer style (although there is nothing wrong with that if you enjoy that style of music). The whole album sounds very fresh - something which can be lacking in some soundtrack releases, and the use of electronics and orchestra was masterful. Chris Bacon is certainly a name to watch out for in the future. This first album has really set the bar high. Stylistically he appears to be going down the route of James Newton Howard which I think is fantastic and I eagerly await more of his work in the future. This album comes highly recommended.
