<ストーリー>

This is a mustsee. I had it on DVD and have wanted to buy it on Blu-ray. Recently I tried buying it on Amazon.com, but out of stock. So I bought it on Amazon.co.jp. The price was nearly the same. The supporting actors are very good and DiCaprio did a good job on this. I'll give 4.5 on this film. You'll enjoy it for sure!

小説「三銃士」の中に出てくる「鉄仮面の男」をメインにした映画。デカプリオを主役に、名優が脇を固めて、エンターテイメント性抜群です。
　店頭で在庫がなかった時に見つけたので、大喜びで購入。
結局、店頭価格よりお得だったし、お店に行く面倒もな買ったので、大　大　大満足でした！！

だと思います。ストーリーも言うことなし。銃士隊メンバーカッコいいし、ディカプリオの一人２役がたまりません。知らないかたはとにかく見て欲しいです。

ひとりの俳優或いは女優が二役をするのは並大抵では無い！以前映画雑誌で読んだ記憶があります。
ディカプリオがそれを見事に演じ分けている！
悪ルイ14世を演じている時は目がつり上がっている様に見えたし、善フィリップを演じている時は面差しが穏やかに見えた！
メイクでそういう風にメイクしているのだろうがまぁ〜見事としか思えない。
周りを固める俳優女優が良い味というか？！良いスパイスになっているというか？！
かつての仲間でもある4銃士アラミスアトスポルトスそしてダルタニアンこの4人のそれぞれの立場での心の葛藤
そういう場面がいくつか出てくる。
アラミスアトスポルトスこの3人と敵対するダルタニアンしかし最後は仲間に加わる！
何故心が揺れ動くのか？！その謎もこの映画を最後までみれば納得します。
最後にルイとフィリップの母親のアンヌ王女役のアンヌパリノー下品な例えで大変申し訳ないがイイおんなだなぁ〜！

WOWOWでやってたのを見て見事にはまり、ブルーレイ買いました。
本当に美しくカッコイイ映画です。
四銃士が凄くカッコイイ。悪い言い方ですが、アトスとポルトスは髪も薄くみすぼらしい中年オヤジですが、それでも凄く頼りがいがありカッコイイです。
アトスとフィリップの触れ合う場面は、親子のような感じがして、泣けてきそうになります。

そしてディカプリオも美しく、凄い演技でした。
本当にディカプリオが二人いるみたいでした。

ちょうど今やっていた、武井咲ちゃん主演ドラマのWの悲劇になんか似てるように思いました。

本当にストーリーもよく、俳優陣の演技には脱帽なのですが、
ただ一つ気になることが。それは暴君ルイのその後。

フィリップと同じように仮面をつけられ牢獄に入れられた後、田舎で神父?と暮らしたとありますが、
なんとか国に留めて、更正させることはできなかったのか?
そしてフィリップと手を組み、国を繁栄させることはできなかったのかなと思います。
ダルタニアンは
「どんな人間も見捨ててはいけない」
と言うように、なんとか更正してくれることを強く望んでいたはず。
アンヌ王妃も、あんな息子とはいえ、自分の息子をまた簡単に手放すことがよくできたなと思いました。
フィクションとはいえ、それが気になりました。

まぁ、田舎で暮らし更正することができていたら、それはそれでいいのかもしれませんが……
それよりまず、どうしてあんなに育ってしまったのか…?

鉄仮面のお話を映画化したものです。ディカプリオの演技も良かったですが彼を支える4銃士達がカッコいい。内容、配役、共に素晴らしく音楽も素晴らしい。感動する作品です。

A simply splendid version of the famous book, and I do not agree with the assessment of someone that di Caprio is not up to the part. He plays his 2 characters extremely well. As I've seen commented before somewhere, this is definitely the best ever depiction of Aramis who is in the book the plotter, which Athos joins him after bitter disappointment in the King's selfish and cruel behaviour towards his (Athos's) adopted son which leads to the death of the young man. It seems that Dumas was not keen on these kings, so his idea to use the Man in the Iron Mask myth as a theme is one that many readers will identify with.

The comment above on the plot and acting that I've just referred to is not entirely accurate. D'Artagnan is told about the plot by Aramis and the other two backing him, and d'Artagnan will not take part in it. He has his own very important reasons for protecting the King even though that King is such a jerk. However, there are matters about the Man in the Iron Mask which d'Artagnan does not know. It is Aramis who has been in on the secret for many years through being in a certain place at a certain time.

This movie doesn't follow the original book in all respects, only in some. But for me it is a much more exciting version even than the book. I've no doubt Dumas could never have used the most important variation, but that was then, and the movie has been made now.

I remember as a kid watching this and thinking it was some historical Drama.
Then seeing the three musketeer appears and thinking "What is going on here?"
But it was so wonderfully epic and relevant as to the nature of heroism that I rolled with it.
There would pass more than a few years before I'd discover this is actually an adaptation from the Duma Sequel "Ten Years Later".

In fact, that movie is much closer to the original three musketeers than the Disney movie made out of the original book. (Spoiler... The Cardinal isn't a bad guy, and the musketeers are FAR from perfect.)

This movie didn't age. It is still as good and as relevant now than it was at the time.
Maybe even more so. Would you lie to end your persecution? Would you lie to make the world a better place?
About who you are, about how you feel, about whom you love and what you wish for?
And what if heroes could be heroes as well as men in the same life?
We all age, we all end up to a point where choosing our way to go becomes more important than our pains and sadness... But what kind of men can look up to this and face danger still, knowing that anything less would be more painful?

This movie manages to be comedic, dramatic, pragmatic and heroic all at once.
If you lack your dose of Renaissance aesthetic this month, why not give it a try?

GREAT general plot, good acting. The only downside is that this could be a 2hr gripping narrative or a 1hr nibble, but the producers try to split the middle. It's long enough to work, but at some point it commits to being an 80min film and just waffles to 140min. Great cast, great general plot, weirdly halting last 30min. Still worth the watch.

I do love a good historical film that has an element of fact however tenuous but for some reason I put off seeing this film since it's release way back in 1998.I was bored stupid on Easter Sunday and was scrolling through the rental films on my sky box and spotted this for a couple of quid so thought why not. So glad none of the cast attempted a French accent with the exception of Gerard Depardieu! Leonardo DiCaprio accent confused me a little as he sounded like he was going for upper class English (think David Niven, James Mason, Cary Grant) and not quite getting it, he plays King Louis XIV and the man in the iron mask. Gabriel Byrne is stunning as peace keeper and loyal soldier D'Artagnan. Jeremy Irons is Aramis, the Kings priest but he also has a secret. John Malkovich is Athos and Gerard Depardieu is Porthous. It has a great cast and great supporting cast, (Hugh Laurie makes a brief appearance) with some fabulous fight scenes, plotting and planning scenes and even some comedy. I'm so glad that I watched it that I just had to have the DVD to watch it again and again.
