This is the first time EVER I have quoted a book as many times as I have on FB and with my friends.
I can see why this book has been so well received, it is so well written.
There was nothing about this novel that would cause me to take a star off. The last few pages are not the best, but it is not enough for me to take a star off.

別名義「林不忘」として時代劇ヒーロー丹下左膳を生み出し、「谷譲二」名義で海外風俗小説をものしていた戦前の人気作家長谷川海太郎の「牧逸馬」名義の代表作「世界怪奇実話」シリーズ。

中でも「浴槽の花嫁」と並び白眉と言えるのが切り裂きジャックを主題にしたこの作品。

おそらく日本でジャックを一般読者に紹介したテキストでは最初期の作品ですが、より多くの資料を踏まえて書かれた最近の「切り裂きジャックもの」と比較しても、読み物として遜色ありません。

あえて時系列順に事件を並べず、当時の風俗や時代の空気のようなものを織り交ぜた少し古風で端正な語り口は、海外の古典探偵小説を読むような独特の魅力があり、ガチガチの文語体や講談調というわけでもないので若い読者でも楽しめるはず。

余談ですが以前文庫版が出た当時に、いくつかのまんが入門や小説の書き方といった本でストーリー構築の参考に紹介されていた記憶があります。

紙媒体の本との違いは、挿入されていた写真や図版がなくなっていること。
（写真・図版などの著作権は本文とは別なので、これはやむをえないことですが）

興味のある方は上記の点を踏まえてどちらを選ぶか決めれば間違いがないでしょう。

I loved this book. It Showed up on my recommended reading list and since I am discovering excellent taste in lit I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did.
This book got my 5 star rating which means that if there was something I didn't love about the book, the good outweighed the bad so heavily that I forgot anything I didn't like. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!

Changed my life. That sounds so cliche right? But seriously. When I ordered this book, I got it on audio book as a treat for my vacation.
After finally getting around to reading this popular book, one of the most iconic of the past decade, I feel comfortable saying that it deserved all the attention and praise it received. Not just for highly interesting and surprising content, but for the valuable lessons it provides.

It really opens your eyes to something you never realized.
This is such a good book that I actually enjoyed reading, I had been in a reading slump before this book and I could never read self help books!
I've read dozens of books of this type, but this is one of the best and most useful I've ever seen.

I know that im just adding one more five star review to many others but i just can't help it ! This was one of those books I could not put down but also didn't want it to end.

It was a short book and my wife and I finished it in 4 or 5 days and that was reading it slowly. The price is easily affordable.
Oh my goodness, I could literally go on for days, raving about this book, and how amazing it is, but I implore you all to read this book! And be prepared to become as impassioned about this book as I am.

I actually listened to this book on audible, but it is nice to have the ebook handy in case I want to go over a chapter or a page.
This book was exceptional. I love to read and this is another story that kept me hooked.
