これも素晴らしいです。前作の宇宙旅行感とは違い、地に足をつけたリズミカルなＰＯＰナンバーが続きます。彼の才能は素晴らしい。前作が好きだった人は、ＰＯＰな彼も聞いてみては。

CD版の他にExtended Version、Deluxe VersionがiTunesやBeatportなどで配信しています
iTunesには他にどの曲も3分程度の短めに編集されたバージョンもある模様
このCDは最初から最後まで繋がっているノンストップの仕様となっているため、
個別にUnmixedの曲が欲しい方は配信で買った方がいいです
iTunesで通常盤もしくはExtended Versionをアルバム丸々購入すると、
約80分のContinuous Mixのデータも含まれているためそちらを薦めます
CDはアイテムとして欲しい方向けですかね

素晴らしいの一言

前作"These Hopeful Machines"はロック、バンドサウンドの色が見られましたが、今作"A Song Across Wires"はEDM（Electronic Dance Music)に強く影響を受けています。
曲の多くがtyDi、Au5等TranceやEDM界の若手とのコラボであって、彼らの特色を上手く活かしながらもあくまでBTの作品としてまとめています。
随所にBTとわかるフレーズが散りばめられ、聞くたびに新たな発見があるほど曲一つ一つの作りこまれています。
これだけ素晴らしい音楽でありながら日本ではあまり知名度がないことが少し残念です。。。今年出るらしい、次回作以降にも今から期待です。

BTのアルバムは全部持っているが
２枚の大作だった前作に比べ勢いがない。
いや勢いはあるのだが統一感やまとまりがなくなった。
シンセサイザーでごちゃまぜにして聞きにくい。
これまでは計算されたごちゃまぜだったが、今作は雑。
残念で仕方ない。

“天才、絶賛迷走中”

一言で言えば「今までの作品と比べてひどく聴きにくい」。
本来、彼の紡ぎ出す音楽は多彩な音が混ざり合う事なく調和し、
ヘッドフォンでそれなりの音量で聴いても深く細かな発見に満ちた
“音の万華鏡然”としているのが常なのだが、
この作品はアレンジに落ち着きがなく、度が過ぎる音圧稼ぎと、
流行りのDubstep風アレンジを多用した結果、幅はあるのに奥行きに欠け、
全体的にモシャモシャして平べったい印象で、聴いていてとても疲れる。
絶賛しているファンも最終的には一番聴かないアルバムになるだろう。

Surroundedのリフのダサさ、Letting Goドロップの“これじゃない”感、
City Life中盤の聴くに堪えない破綻、機上制作のVervoerenのヤッツケ度合い、
Jan Johnstonの声あってこそだったCalling〜をわざわざ別シンガーで改悪し、
芸術的スタッターは鳴りを潜め、ヒステリックなスネア連打が幅を利かせている。
JESの声は「イジり過ぎ」の暗礁に乗り上げ「重ね過ぎレイヤー」の海に沈没。
少しならある種の“ジョーク”として受け入れられるDubstep的展開も
7回、8回ともなると、もはやSkrillexに追い回される悪夢を見ている気分だ。
極めつけはジャケットデザインが過去最低レベルで手抜き感満載。

BTは本アルバム発売に先んじて、
「現在の技術を100とするとESCMの頃は70だ」とのたまわっていたが、
このアルバムではスタッター、アレンジ、テクスチャーすべてがありきたりで、
さらに「質ではなく量」で攻めてくるもんだからたまらない。
15年で加味された+30が「某若きグラミー受賞者への嫉妬と対抗意識」でした、
なんて話では決してあって欲しくないものだ。

「Twitterでエゴサしてリツイートしたり、ジムに行った報告して
人生訓たれたりする暇があったら、新設したスタジオに籠って出て来るな」と
茶々の一つも送りたくなってくる。
しかし、往年のファンが苦笑いする出来のアルバムとはいえ、
楽曲の水準は総じて高く平均以上なので、
EDM界での彼の立ち位置とか興味ない人は買って損はないだろう。
そして、このアルバムをBGMに作業した結果、
なぜかひどくイライラしている自分に気づく羽目になったら、
Twitterで自分の名前と評判を検索するのが大好きな彼に向けて
文句の一つでもつぶやいてやればいい。

次回作に期待。

Having known BT for his collabs with Tiesto on "Love Comes Again" and "Break My Fall" and his song "Satellite" I decided to take a risk, buy his recent album and see what the heck he's up to. Quite frankly, I don't regret making this spontaneous choice, because it turned out to be an amazing one! Make no mistake, this is an exceptional album and once you embark on a journey, there will be no stops, that's certain. This album is pretty much a continuous mix where there seems to be no clear end to any of his song, so the listening policy here is: One must listen to an entire album in order to experience it fully. What else is so special about this piece? Well, it's filled with uplifting trance beats accompanied by trance-like breaks and vocals, some performed by Christian Burns and Nadia Ali to name a few. Now let's talk about the tracks that I find unique.
1. Skylarking - wonderful intro, very calm, slowly progresses to surprise you with even more trancey beats to make your heart drive crazy (along with your ears anyway). It's like a sound which climbs a mountain and the further it goes, it echoes more profoundly.
2. Love Divine - powerful vocals done by Christian Burns, very-well known for working with personna such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schultz and more. The sound itself here makes you think of formula racing.
3. Must Be The Love - absolutely a must-listen song. Make sure you listen through track 10 instead of listening directly track 11, because as you may note, this song actually starts at the end of the track that precedes it. Otherwise, you'll be missing out on beautiful intro :P Vocals performed by stunning Nadia Ali, whose voice shall mesmerize you all throughout.
Ultimately, this album made it to my collection and it's definitely a classic among many other trance albums that are out in the EDM market. If you like BT, enjoy trance music, or simply looking for something alternative, this is it.

Mit "A Song Accross Wires" ist BT wieder einmal ein Meilenstein des Trance Genre gelungen.
Dies liegt nicht nur an den vielen Kooperationen die BT dieses Mal eingeangen ist, sondern vor allem an seinem unverwechselbaren, verträumten Stil - den man auf jedem seiner Alben findet.

Skylarking: Ist ein wunderschöner Trance Tune, der sanft die Sinne streichelt.
Letting Go: Mit Jes hat BT hier den euphorischten Track des ganzen Albums geschaffen, der zudem auch der einzige richtige DubStep Tune auf der CD ist und ganz klar zu einem der besten Songs aus dem zur Zeit sehr beliebten Genre gehört.
Tomahawk: Hier ist aus der Zusammenarbeit mit Adam K. eine Mischung aus Trance und Electro gelungen, sehr cool.
City Life: Ist eines der absoluten Highlights von dem Album, hier wird Pop mit Trance und Electro verschmolzen, begleitet von schönem, japanischen Gesang, einfach nur genial.
Stem the Tides: Unüberhörbar hatte hier Tydi seine Finger mit im Lied und somit verwundert es nicht weiter, dass man hier einen sehr eingängigen Progessiv Trance Tune mit schönen, verträumten Breaks (und Glockenspiel) vorgespielt bekommt.
Tonight: Jes Stimme bringt Tonight sowie Letting Go auf ein neues Level, wobei der Track auch als Instrumental schon sehr gut gewesen wäre.
Love Devine: Ist der erste Song auf dem Album, der mal nicht von einer Frau besungen wurde. Durch eine sehr eingängige Melodie gegen Ende und natürlich dem sehr popigen Refrain begeistert auch dieses Stück durchweg.
Surrounded: Kann nicht ganz mit Love Devine mithalten ist aber auch nicht schlecht.
Vervoeren: Ist zur Abwechslung wieder ein reines Trance Instrumental, das vor allem durch die Hands-Up Breaks schöne Festival Stimmung erzeugt.
Calling your Name: Trance meets Electro and DubStep, das ganze garniert mit der zerbrechlichen Stimme von Emma Hewitt - wieder absolut outstanding.
Must be the Love: Einer der schönsten Tunes auf "A Song Across Wires", der im aktuellen Progessiv House/Trance Sound jede Crowd rocken müsste.
Lifeline: Beendet mit einer Mischung aus Trance und Pop das Meisterwerk.

Nachdem BT dieses Mal kein Doppelalbum heraus bringen wollte, musste er sein Album leider quasi zusammen mixen, damit alle Stücke darauf gepasst haben. Dadurch ist es aber leider etwas problematisch MP3's für unterwegs zu erstellen, das ist aber auch der einzige Kritikpunkt, den ich an diesem durchweg sehr gut produzierten Album aussetzen kann. Somit kann ich diese Album jeden Trance/House/Electro/DubStep Freund nur wärmstens ans Herz legen.

I listened to this for several days nonstop when I first got it. The CD now graces my CD player in my car (replacing These Humble Machines). The production quality of this mix is top notch, I expect nothing less from BT. It is most similar to BT's mix Laptop Symphony CD, but definitely distinct. It sounds like there's more straight up BT work than other tracks, but then again the track "Tomahawk" (from the Laptop Symphony disc 1) appears. Lots of vocal trance with a sprinkling of dubstep (honestly, I think BT mixes in dubstep perfectly, not overdone like a pure dubstep mix gets). If you didn't like the Laptop Symphony radio show (I admit I've never listened to it), or didn't like the Laptop Symphony two disc set, you probably won't like Song Across Wires.

Personally, I eat up every release of BT's that I find. I think he's constantly improving, from ESCM and Movement in Still Life, through Emotional Technology through These Hopeful Machines, the Monster soundtrack, If the Stars are Eternal So are You and I, Morceau Subrosa, Laptop Symphony, and now Song Across Wires. I love how he can put on his classical hat, trance hat, producer hat, and it just... keeps... getting better....

Having pre-ordered this a month in advance, I listened to ASAW first using the Amazon player before the CD arrived. The single non-mixed versions are too short and sound more like jingles, compared to the CD full length mixes which are much better in my opinion.

This long awaited album offers songs that uses complex and clever layering of BT's trademark mixing techniques and samples, fusing micro-rhythms together in such a melodic and clever way. There are many catchy tunes on this album, and no doubt will have you playing it daily. The one that's sticking on my mind is the track with Korean vocals by Bada - now to get the translations from somewhere.

Buy it if you like to feel uplifted by upbeat music or like electronic music in general.
