かっこいい！
前作と比較してどうとかというよりも
前作と平行して聴いていける、趣の違う作品。
前作のアルバムが陽としたらこっちは陰みたいな(笑)

自分の好みで言えば、不安げなイントロから込み上げて炸裂してくるようなこっちの
アルバムの方が好みです。

初期の轟音バースト系からいい進化してると思うこのバンドは。

ロックとエレクトロニカの融合ってこれが現在の最高レベルじゃないでしょうか。
って仕上がり。
極端にロック寄りでもなくエレクトロニカ寄りでもなく、まさに融合。
そして何より音楽が良い。

This is my unicorn album, I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I was to find that this had been reissued. This is by far my favourite 65 Days Of Static album. I first got into their music via No Man's Sky - I have the OST which is excellent, but Wild Light is an absolute stonker of an album. Sweeping, melancholy, and wholly beautiful.

65 Daysofstatic ovvero il nuovo modo di intendere il post rock contemporaneo. Si apre in maniera epica questo "Wild light" con il suono di un organo che apre una messa pagana per esser poi spodestato da chitarre distorte in pienna scuola Explosion in the Sky. "Prism" rappresenta al meglio il nuovo lato della band sempre più immersa nel mondo dell'elettronica. Sembra un pezzo techno rivisitato dai Mono, i giganti del post rock nipponico. E' un sound nuovo questo, avvincente, moderno e potente. L'intelligenza della band sta tutta qua, nell'aver capito che il post rock classico, quello che giocava al contrasto quiete-furore alla lunga poteva mostrare segni d'usura. L'innesto intelligente dell'elettronica e lo sguardo a mondi diversi come la techno colta (alla Vladislav Delay o Fennesz tanto per capirci) hanno aperto nuove prospettive. Ovvio la band non rinnega l'istanze post rock e i modelli classici che vanno dai Mogwai ai Mono e Explosion in the Sky sono ben presenti. Esemplare in questo senso "Blackspots" vera perla dell'album, sette minuti di magia pura con i synth a reggere l'impalcatura sonora e impegnati a lottare con una batteria marziale e le chitarre che si incuneano come lame roventi in appropiate toccate e fughe.Il quartetto di Sheffield (città nota fin dagli anni 70 per la sua attitudine verso suoni industrial) rappresenta a mio avviso uno degli esempi più intelligenti di contaminazione tra generi apparentemente incompatibili e lo fanno con stile e personalità. Album come "Wild light" aprono davvero nuove prospettive agli addetti del post rock, prospettive difficilmente ignorabili.

What can I say? I first came across 65DOS by way of a friend posting an article by 65DOS about torrents and how it'd be nice if people sent a few pennies their way. Being somewhat of a Killjoy and completely oblivious to the bands awesomeness I somewhat mocked it and had a bit of fun with the article. (Trolling is too easy these days!)

However, being a bit of a music nut I decided to check them out and *Jawdrop.*

Within hours of listening to some of their songs I was on Amazon buying the album. They're just fantastic! I'll leave the genre description to others and just say that I'm completely taken with the band and wish them the best.

They are in the top 3 musical discoveries of 2013 for me and I'm pleased as punch.

Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas 65daysofstatics, il s'agit d'un groupe de "post-rock" instrumental qui mêlent gros son de guitares, piano, batterie énergique et musique électronique. La spécificité de 65dos depuis la création du groupe est l'exploration de rythmiques croisées, de signatures rythmiques inhabituelles et de structures complexes des morceaux. Bien souvent les différents instruments évoluent suivant des signatures rythmiques différentes et emprunte à l'évidence des influences dans la musique de Steve Reich ou de John Cage.

Toujours dans l'exploration, 65dos a produit des albums très différents, au risque de parfois déconcerter ses fans comme par exemple avec l'album We Were Expoding Anyway presque entièrement en 4/4 ! Presque...;-).

Avec ce dernier opus, Wild Light, 65dos est au sommet de son art. C'est un superbe album qui montre qu'ils n'ont pas fini d'explorer le style musical dans lequel ils s'imposent comme une référence absolue.

J'ajouterai qu'en concert...65dos, c'est énorme ! A voir absolument.

Gar nicht so einfach, in Worte zu fassen, was 65dos hier abgeliefert haben.
Meine ersten Assoziationen waren Danny Boyles "Sunshine", William Gibson, 70er Jahre BBC SciFi.

Wild Light ist ein sehr in sich geschlossenes Werk mit einer wahnsinnigen Erzählkraft. Die Beschäftigung
mit dem Silent Running Soundtrack hinterlässt hier deutliche Spuren. Allerdings kommen die Jungs
hier noch mehr auf den Punkt. Die Lieder zeichnen sich allesamt durch eine Präzision und Fokussierung
auf wesentliches aus, wie sonst noch kein 65dos Album davor. Aber vor allem ist der elektronische
Anteil an der Musik deutlich höher.

Bei ersten Durchhören kam mir der Mittelteil noch etwas undifferenziert vor, beim zweiten mal traf
mich dann "The Undertow" so unvorbereitet, dass ich fast eine viertel Stunde zu einem Termin kam,
weil ich mir das Lied unbedingt noch zweimal anhören musste...

Aber der Reihe nach:

01-Heat Death Infinity Splitter ist eine gelungene Ouvertüre die eine bedrohliche Stimmung verbreitet und das Setting vorbereitet.
02-Prisms ist wahrscheinlich eines der besten Musikstücke die je geschrieben wurden. Absolut tanzbar und Live eine Offenbarung. Unbedingt das geniale Video anschauen!!
03-The Undertow bewegt sich wunderbar elegant zwischen Schwermut und transzendenter Losgelöstheit
04-Blackspots ist noch am ehesten ein klassischer 65dos Song und fließt und treibt wunderbar dahin.
05-Sleepwalk City schließt fast nahtlos an Blackspots an wird dann aber hypnotischer und weckt durch seinen Titel tolle Assoziationen von Neonleuchtenden Hochhausschluchten
06-Taipei ist quasi die schließende Klammer um den Mittelblock, die mit The Undertow geöffnet wurde. Wieder ein schöne Piano-Thema das immer mehr mit der Elektronik verschmilzt.
07-Unmake the Wild Light ist wohl der beste Song auf dem Album. Sehr Abwechlungsreich und auf seine Art eine Brücke zwischen den alten 65dos Alben und diesem.
08-Safe Passage ist ein gelungener Abschluss. Auch hier funktioniert die Musik mit dem Titel zusammen wieder als Einheit. Das Abenteuer ist zu Ende und vielleicht
hat man es überlebt...

Insgesamt also ein wunderschönes Album, das man gehört haben sollte. Und der Beweis, dass gute Geschichten keine oder nur wenige Wörter brauchen, wenn Sie mit Gefühl und Können vorgetragen werden.

Tausend Dank nach Sheffield für diese Platte!!! Und bitte bitte weitermachen!
