これまでコンピアルバムで聞いていたのですが､どの曲も良くて､息子もオリジナルアルバムでみんな聴きたいね、ということになり、半分ずつ出しあって速攻で買ってしまいました。大正解でした。

最初の２枚はCS&Nやグレイトフル・デッドの影響が強いけど、歳を取ってから聴くと沁みる
３枚目からポップになり、いわゆるパブロックと呼ばれるのは、この辺だろうな
酒を飲みながら聴くと最高
正直、20代で聴いたときは緩くて素通りしたけど、今の耳で聴くと滋味があってよい

なんといってもこれ一つでほぼすべてのアルバムをカバーできているので、
持っていても損はないと思います。
私はNickLoweファンですが、ニックの音楽のルーツを知る上でも、
聞いておきたいバンドです。

去年の10月に予約していつ発売になるかと、
4月末にイギリスで発売されても日本に入って来ない、何故？？
もう待てないから海外の出品者に注文、そして来ました！
まずsilver pistol から…イアンゴムが入ってガラッと変わったこのアルバム
良いです。
でもこのシリーズ、紙ジャケの枠要らないですよねアナログジャケットに枠無かったですし。

ニック・ロウやイアン・ゴムが在籍したブリンズリー・シュウォーツの廉価な5枚組セット。1970年代前半に発売された1枚目から5枚目。初期のソフトなフォークやカントリーっぽいサウンドからポップさやR&Bっぽさが加わっていき、メンバー二人が加わったグレアム・パーカー＆ザ・ルーモアに受け継がれます。全部で6枚しかないんだから、もう1枚追加してよ、と文句を言いたいとこですが、安いから我慢。

this is a great 5 cd set of the vintage brisley schwarz catlog of the early 1970s, this band was basically probably the first band that would kick off the infamous uk pub rock scene wich did not really explode all over london until around 1973/74 with the likes of DR FEELGOOD, EGGS OVER EASY, BEES MAKE HONEY, DUCKS DELUXE, TYLA GANG, KILBURNE AND THE HIGH ROADS, LITTLE BOB STORY, THE HAMMERSMITH GORILLAS as well as JESSE HECTOR solo &my favorite MICK GREEN AND THE PIRATES!!as well as all the others, nick lowe wrote the entire first album for brinsley schwarz and was one of the sole songwriters for the band in the early 70s, they did a host of early gigs with the likes of love sculpture and dave edmonds as well as crushed butler ( jesse hector) and that whole scene, the band really did not score big hits in the uk/europe or the us but had a very powerful uk pub rock underground fan base, over here in the us the only outfit from this genre that hit us shores to some popularity was DR FEELGOOD in 1975 & 1976 before wilco left the band ( MY FAVORITE NEXT TO THE PIRATES ESP THE WILCO YEARS 1973 TO 77) as far as i know and have heard i think brinsley schwarz made it over to the us in 1972 or there about but did not make any impact so the record company never had them back over again, it is to bad this band did not hang
around a bit longer as i think by 1976 or so they would have done better, anyway this is a great collection here with all 5 albums in mini lp style replica sleeves, the remastering is ok and the discs sound very good, i wish bonus tracks could have been added but for the price here you get a fantastic complete basic brinsley schwarz collection as if you had the original lps on vinyl, for the price???? you cant beat this budget reissue and i have always loved that song down in mexico............................

A fantastic example of value for money in reissues of top quality material. The Brinsleys were packed with talent, including the certified-gold, living legend, musical genius that is Nick Lowe, the magnificent keyboard talents of Bob Andrews and the subtle, multi-instrumental contributions of Mr Schwarz himself.
Sad that the band never fulfilled it's commercial potential due to misjudged hype and the band's sometimes laid-back attitude. All would go on to find success one way or another and can be heard on classic albums of the period from the likes of Graham Parker, Dave Edmunds, Dr Feelgood, Little Village etc.
Not every track on these albums is a winner, naturally enough, but there are so many gems they should really be stored in a vault.
At this price you really can't go wrong; grab yourself a big slice of Rock 'n Roll history that's still as fresh as if it just came out of the oven.

"Brinsley Schwarz" waren eine britische Country-Pub-Rock-Band und haben im Zeitraum 1969 bis 1975 insgesamt 6 Alben aufgenommen. Einen wirklichen Bekanntheitsgrad haben sie leider nie erreicht - und dabei hätten sie es durchaus verdient gehabt ... aber der Output guter Musik war in diesen Jahren immens, und so gingen viele gute Bands in der Masse einfach unter. Interessenten fragen sicherlich nach einer Stilrichtung: Wer "The Band" mag ist auch bei "Brinsley Schwarz" gut aufgehoben.
Zur vorliegenden Ausgabe: Das bekannte Konzept der Serie "Original Album Series" - 5 CDs in einfachen Papphüllen mit den Original-Album-Covers. Kein Booklet und in diesem Fall auch keine Bonustracks. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis verdient jedoch die Note "Sehr Gut". Für mich sehr schade finde ich, dass das letzte Album dieser Band ["The New Favourites Of Brinsley Schwarz"] nicht enthalten ist. Das wäre mit Sicherheit der 5. Stern gewesen.
