It's an overdue album by an artist I truly adore. Jamie sounds more grown up and pensive, he sings more too. There is less of his angry boyish rapping and more of his clever lyrics and the whole album feels less urgent. I had it on pre-order and have listened to it every day since I received it. To me it feels like a grower of an album- tracks like Zombie, Limits Lie, Trouble, Love is Only a Heartbeat Away and Murder of Crows are instantly likeable- and the rest are to be unpeeled as a good book or any other meaningful form of art.

Jamie T has an amazing turn of phrase and what I most like about him is that he comes across as a genuine person who writes about stuff that means something to him. I actually don't mind when artists take time to come up with their next album. I'd rather they allowed themselves to live life and acquire new experiences in order to have something real to write about than churn out album after album with the sole purpose to remain in the spotlight. In a review I read recently it was mentioned that Jamie has spent some time travelling in the States and that both of his parents have had health issues in the last few years. With this album you do get the feeling that he is not a carefree youngster anymore, and that an older and more grown up person is emerging. He has allowed himself to come across as more vulnerable too.

Luckily Jamie's talent remains as compelling as ever and you cannot help but admire his ability to write good tunes and sign from his heart. He has this amazing quality to capture the off-beat side of life and present it in a heartwarming, intelligent and unpretentious way.
