Like many others, I was fairly skeptical. However, I read one review from a computer scientist or electrical engineer (I can't remember which) of various digital audio components and he said galvanic isolation is the biggest difference maker for digital audio. So I thought: what the heck? And gave this a try.
The difference exceeded my expectations. I have several of these signal cleaning products (audioqust jitterbug, the Schiit Wyrd, and now this) and this one has clearly made the biggest difference of the bunch by far.
Sound just feels cleaner. It's hard to describe. But you get better clarity, better spacing, a slightly larger/more open soundstage.
Not sure the difference this will make with a standard set of cans, but I imagine nobody is looking at this to pair with their free earpods.
Definitely, definitely recommend this product!
(Current system for reference: Tidal or DSD library --> Schiit Wyrd --> iFi iGalvanic --> Audioquest Jitterbug --> Pro-ject Prebox S2 --> Schiit Lyr2 --> Audeze MX4)
I use an Apple Mac laptop and I avidly listen to music through my DAC into this. But when I visited a friend I noticed that their music seemed much clearer and smoother than mine. When I got home, I realised mine had a low grade hum to it - something I never really noticed before but now seemed glaringly obvious and really annoying!!! It also seemed less smooth I guess. So my friend suggested iFi to me, we had a good chat and he talked me through what he thought were my issues and options. It came down to the iGalvanic3.0 being the one to best suit me, and suit me it did. Once I had set everything up and hit play, my mind was blown. The clarity and sleekness of the sound is astonishing. I don’t know how I went so long listening to my music the old way, I’m definitely never turning back! I am looking forward to my friends coming over just so I can show off my set-up. Will be purchasing the Groundhog+ to further help my issue with the missing earth.
