Loved the gatefold, loved the sleeve. Really vibey record, just an absolute adventure to listen to. Balances the psychedelic stuff with some solid songwriting
I didn't notice when originally ordering this vinyl record that there is a mono and stereo remaster of this classic album widely available to purchase at a similar price. In fact there's a ton of different versions that have been issued over the years. To be honest I picked up the mono version by accident more than anything. The difference is not made particulalry clear in the Amazon listing. Look for the "mono" at the top left of the album cover. Initially I thought that I had made a mistake, but actually it's really grown on me. The mono mix effectively nerfs all of the stereo panning from the original, but thats not always a bad thing, because you get a very focused and punchy sound. My copy spins a little unevenly, but nothing too extreme. There is very little to no surface noise. There's a single side of liner notes by John McDermot that discus the mono remastering process by Bernie Grundman. The gatefold sleeve artwork is monochrome inside with a stylised image of the three musicians and the reprinted lyrics.
