DIYバイオミーティング＠ボストン
毎月のボストンで開かれるDIYバイオのミーティングには誰もが自分のプロジェクトのデモができます。
テーマはハードウェア、ソフトウェア、ウェットウェア、アート他何でも構いません。
またこのミーティングはバイオ工学に興味を持つ人たちを結びつける場でもあります。
... Our monthly meetings feature a short talk by an interesting speaker, a show-n-tell section where everyone can demo their cool projects - be it hardware, software, wetware, art, writing, whatever - followed by time for social networking and refreshments.
DIYbio is is a community in which burgeoning biological engineers can come together to learn and share ideas, bringing back that enthusiasm for science we experienced as kids. DIYbio promotes the responsible and safe practice of scientific techniques. We meet in the Boston area to discuss topics such as best practices, advances in related technology and market scope for new products.(blogs.nature)

これが完成し、一般的に受け入れられる頃には、遺伝子組み換え食物も食卓に並んでいるのでしょうか。
アジアにおけるDIYbio活動@シンガポール
DIYbioシンガポールのブログから、最近アップされた記事より。
シンガポールで最初のDIYbioのイベントは、昨年2010年の7月に開催されました。健康・食品関連に注目した内容で、分子ガストロノミーの話題などが注目を浴びました。また、シンガポールにおけるDIYbioの活動方針をベンチャー精神の米国型にするべきか、政府主導の欧州型にするべきか論じられています。

4月にニューヨーク（もしくはボストン）で、バイオロジスト、アーティスト、エンジニア、デザイナーが集まるハッカソンが開かれます。
FutureLabCamp is a weekend hackathon (fri-sun) taking place in NYC (or Boston?) this April.
A weekend celebrating the exchange of biologists, artists, engineers and designers. Join our lecture series and participate in a three day hackathon and camp-out at our venue. We will develop imaginative make/shift devices and prototypes interacting with biological systems to investigate the future of biotechnologies.(Wired, 2011/02/06)
