the Doll Festival

Yesterday, March 3rd, was Hina Maturi, or the Doll Festival.
I decided to prepare chirasi-zusi for dinner.
Come to think of it, I hadn’t made it for years.
When I was thinking about checking some recipes for the meal, I happened to see a recipe for it in the Asahi newspaper of March 2nd.
“What perfect timing!,” I thought.
It was just what I wanted to have!

I went to a supermarket to buy some ingredients I didn’t have at home, including burdock, konnyaku, deep-fried soybean curd and red pickled ginger.

I had a notion that it would take some effort to prepare chirasi-zusi, but this time I found it much easier than I thought.
And it tasted good!
I thought I’d like to make it again for some event soon.
