First after Graduation Internship BLOG for Hinode Sangyo
Intro
It feels good to right the blog for Hinode Sangyo today, but also feels sad that I have completed my after graduation internship and will be returning to my country South Africa, to implement what I have learned in Japan and help to transform and achieve Sustainable Development Goals for future.
A little background about myself:

    Yokohama Milk Industry
I was deeply daydreaming about what to do to help waste water treatment plants in South Africa using innovative technology from Hinode Sangyo Co., Ltd.
1st visit: 09/2016
2nd visit: 10/2017

My name is Xolani Nkosikhona Mhlongo 「コラニ ンコシコナ ムホォンゴ」nicknamed スコシ san. I am from a KwaZulu Natal region in South Africa, and I came to Japan under ABE Initiative program for youth, a Master’s degree scholarship and business education by JICA. I graduated in the Graduate School of Agriculture Kagawa University, Master of Science in Agriculture: Applied Bioresource Science and I researched about the occurrence of mycotoxins in the South African commercial foods.

My Experience/ My Story
Before this 5 weeks internship training in (2017) I participated on the 2 weeks internship with Hinode Sangyo Co., Ltd in (2016). It is amazing what I could learn within the short period of time. To be realistic, I did not have any background about the treatment of waste water. I focused on food safety/ food science/ consumer sciences for my previous fields of studies.
The innovative technology I learned at Hinode Sangyo amazed me, when I noticed the industrial application of the HMB system, Elbic Series and all the advantages of the reagents used to recycle water. [Elbic series]

There are so many advantages (decreased energy usage, cost effective and minimal maintenance etc.) that come with using HMB in WWTP’s and can be useful for the developing countries in Africa.

Yokohama Milk Industry
WOW! I thought after seeing how fast the sedimentation process is achieved “just few seconds” you get very clear water.
But the process is not finished.
Next step is microbial analysis for better water quality of course.

Water Quality analysis
The water might look very clean, but microbes shown in the picture might contained and not seen by naked eyes.
That’s how microorganism analysis is important. for the treatment of bacteria in water.

There is so much to write about, but today please allow me to point out how impressed I was, after I observed how to recycle sludge for agricultural purposes to use as compost/ fertilizer.

Chiba
The process is simple and requires patience, for proper sledge compost until it matures to fertilizer. This composition could be applied to various vegetables and fruit’s plantation.
However: more analysis needs to be done to know what is contained in the sledge.
I loved seeing this.

Objective
It is my duty to transfer the impression, skills or knowledge which I attained by participating at the after graduation internship with Hinode Sangyo Co., Ltd which gives me an opportunity to become an ambassador for skills and innovative technology promotion to the industries in South Africa. With this information emerges new research collaboration which will lead to industrial application development using new technology for industrial application to solve most water related problems with effluent technology from Hinode Sangyo in South Africa.
Ngiyabonga kakhulu. Thank you very much. Arigatougozaimashita. Asante sana.
