自分はWal-Martや、Big K-Martなどの大規模安売り店がどうしても好きになれない。広大な店舗なので、どこにいけばどんな商品があるのかも中々わからない。そういう巨大な在庫空間の中、買い物客はゾンビのように虚ろな目で商品棚を見上げながら、カートを押し歩く。実に気味が悪い。

が、そのWal-Martに来る客層の行動に変化が生まれているらしい。

  • 赤ちゃん用品の売行きでも、節約志向がわかる。以前は、紙おむつ→トレーニングパンツ(pull-ups)→普通のパンツ、となっていたのに、最近はトレーニングパンツの売行きが落ちた。節約の為、紙おむつからいっきに普通のパンツにいくらしい。

  • 1340億ドル(13兆円)の米国債をイタリアからスイスに持ち込もうとした「日本人らしい二人」がイタリア当局に摘発された。

イタリア財務警察は、総額１３４０億ドル（約１３兆円）相当の米国債をイタリアからスイスに持ち出そうとした日本人２人の身柄を拘束し、検察当局に身柄を送致したと発表した。在ミラノ総領事館が日本人かどうかを含め確認を急いでいる。

　財務警察は今月３日、イタリアからスイス側に入ったキアッソの駅に停車中の電車内にいた２人の所持品を検査。二重底になっていたカバンの底から額面５億ドルの米国債２４９枚などが見つかった。

　２人は持ち出しを申告しておらず、債券が本物の場合には額面の約４０％が罰金として科せられる可能性があるという。ただ、債券が巨額なため財務警察は偽造の疑いもあるとみて調べている。
