Nihonbashi Bee Salon Project kick off event!

On June 22, 2009, Japanese honey bees have arrived from Morikoka by shinkansen to my company, the Tokyo Grain Exchange. Seita Fujiwara a beekeeper and chairman of the Japanese Original Honeybee Organization brought them early in the morning on the train. We had people from the neighborhood come over and see the beehive being set up and listen to a 30 minutes talk from Fujiwara-san about bees.

After the short explanation, we all moved to the salon and tasted honey from GINPACHI (an organization that keeps bees in Ginza) and also honey directly from the hive that was just brought in. The honey is light and nothing like the clover honey I have tasted in bottles from the US. Much lighter color and does not have a bite to it.
