June 24, 2009 My saviour Goto-san!

At 08:30 Goto-san, the instructor that Fujiwara-san introduced to me came to the Exchange! It was pouring with rain! She slowly lifted the 2 top layers of the bee hive and looked inside for any damage the ants may have done. I was amazed because the very bottom layer was empty. She said that the bottom layer is empty because in nature the Japanese honey bees leave the bottom open as a kind of "rubbish" place and the particles that we saw on the bottom was bit and pieces that the bees chewed when making their honeycomb. There were ants crawling around the bottom layer but fortunately did not yet go up to the upper layers.
We sterilized everything with hot water and returned it back to its original space.
