It's hilarious -- one example is Marjane's choice to get back up after a bad breakup, to the tune of her singing "Eye of the Tiger" in her broken English. And there's her relationship with her grandmother, who always has the right thing to say even though she has her own crazy way of saying it.

But at heart it's a coming of age story of a young woman who is being forced out of the life that she should be in.

これは 楽しい -- 例えば ひどい ゴタゴタの 後で 腹を たてた Marjane が 選ぶのは デタラメな 英語で "Eye of the Tiger" を フシを つけて 歌うことだ。 そして 彼女と 祖母との つながり、それが 彼女だけの とんでもない いいかたで あるとしても 彼女の いうことは いつでも 賢明だ。

しかし 実際には これは そこで 過ごすはずの 人生から 追いたてられていく 一人の 若い 女性の 大人へと 成長する 物語だ。
