仙台
MY DISCOツアーレポート、残り3日というところで中断していたのですが、続きが掲載されました。
このツアーレポートは、3月の初めに書かれたものです。
2回目のツアーとなる彼らの、たっての希望で実現した仙台公演。冬の終わりの東北は、温暖なオーストラリアの気候に慣れたMY DISCOの3人を驚愕させるほどの寒さでしたが、対バンのみなさんやお客さんとのやりとりは、対照的に本当に心温まるもので、彼らは帰りの車内で口々に東北が気に入ったと話していました。
レポートには載っていませんが、リハーサル後、ぼくはメンバーと別行動で、仙台の街をすこし歩きました。曇り空の下でしたが、均整のとれた美しい街だと思いました。
たった2週間のうちに何が起るのかも知らずに。
震災後、迷う気持ちがずっとあったのですが、MY DISCOの3人から寄せられたメッセージとともに、掲載することとします。彼らの想いをありのままに伝えたいので、翻訳はせず、英語のままにしておきました。読めない人がいたら、どうか読める人、伝えてあげてください。日本から遠く離れた国の友人たちが、ぼくたちと同じように友を気遣い、心配し、もどかしい思いをしていることを、すこしでも伝えられたらと思います。
After recently returning from our second tour of Japan, My Disco send out our deepest sympathies to the tragedy that the Tsunami caused,especially to the people of Sendai and all regions affected by this disaster. We have met some inspiring and amazing friends and families in those regions,and we had a great concert in Sendai only one week before the disaster struck. We were lucky to have played and shared a great time with all the promoters,bands and friends who came and saw us play, but some people were not so lucky after the earthquakes hit the area. We offer and extend our regards to everyone we met, played with, stayed with and shared the stage with in Sendai and of course the whole of Japan. We hope that peace can be restored to the areas most affected, and that we can come back and visit and perform in these regions very soon. 時間は追ってお知らせします。余震のことなどもあるので、昼から始めて、夜9時ごろには終わるようなタイムテーブルになるかと思われます。
これがいったいどういうことなのか、どんな意義をもつのか、ぼくにはまだあまり分かっていません。
ただ、お世話になった友人に会いに行くこと、物資を運ぶのに合わせて、手土産に歌を携えてゆくこと、それだけがはっきりしています。
