■[コラム] Web 2.0時代を生きる英語嫌いの若い人たちへの英語勉強法

英語があんまり好きじゃないけど、専門のことについては好き嫌いはともかく英語を道具として使いたい。そういう人に向けての英語勉強法です。

(1) Web 2.0/次の10年/Open Source/Google/Longtailみたいなネット関連の最新動向について、質の高い論考をたくさん読み、自分が実際に使うかもしれないなぁと思うような語彙を増やすとともに、借用できそうな文章を抜き出して、それら(英文)をできるだけたくさん暗記すること。ここで使う「質の高い論考」は次のリストから好みに応じて選んでください(理想を言えば全部)。もっとテクニカルにディープなものがよい人は、自分が気に入った文章を選んでください。

(2) (a)話す相手としてネット世界にあまり詳しくない人を想定して、そういう最先端の世界で何が起こっているのか、(b)話す相手としてネット世界に詳しい人をイメージして、自分は何をやろうとしているのかを、それぞれ、簡潔な日本語で説明できるようになること(日本語ですらろくに説明できないことを、英語で説明できるはずがないから)。

(3) そしてその日本語でできるようになった説明内容を、(1)で暗記した英語の文章もうまく借用しながら、英語で簡潔に説明できるようになること。
