何度もニュースで話題になっている「振り込め詐欺」は英語で何というのか気になり、関連した記事を調べてみました。

A portion of unclaimed money stolen through bank transfer scams will be used to establish a loan program for children of victims of various crimes to be launched in April.

「振り込め詐欺」はbank transfer scamというのですね。他にもremittance fraudという表現がありました。（Weblio辞典）
scamとfraudは同じ意味なのかと思い調べてみますと、scamは”a clever but dishonest way to get money”とあり、fraudは”the crime of deceiving people in order to gain something such as money or goods”とあったので、どうやら少しニュアンスが違うようです。また、scamはinformalな言い方のようです。

昨年までの５年間の振り込め詐欺の被害総額約７４０億円にはとても驚きました。本当にひどい手口ですね。(Nat)
