ロリオンド〜前編〜 Loliondo〜The first part〜

突然ですが、本日はあることについての前編です。
私の学校では毎朝全学年による朝礼があります。
曜日によって内容は違い、火曜日は生徒によるスピーチです。
生徒４〜５人が１人ずつ英語でスピーチしなければなりません。
どんなに英語が話せなくても全校生徒の前に行き、ハローくらいは言わねばなりません。
ある日のこと、２年生の生徒の１人がスピーチしていました。
彼は結構話せるほうなのですがなにせ発音がタンザニア式なので言っていることの半分
くらいしかわかりません。
なにやら病気にかかったときの対処について言っています。
「病気になったら、ディスペンサリーか病院に行く。それでも治らない場合は
＊＊＊＊(←聞き取れず)に行けばいい。＊＊＊＊ならＨＩＶもどんな病気も治
してくれる。・・・」
うん？！今なんて言った？
エイズでもなんでも治る？そんなばかな・・・
さっそく朝礼後その生徒に聞きに行きました。
なにを隠そう、その正体というのは西洋医療ではなく、いってみれば魔法使い（呪術師というの
でしょうか）による医療のよう。
神様から資格を与えられたものしか作れず、それを飲めばどんな病気も治る、と生徒みんなが
口をそろえて言うのです。
もともとタンザニア北部の土地にいた国全土で有名な医療のようなのですが、なんと私の住む村
から１０キロ弱いったところにある村にもその資格をもった呪術師がいるらしいではないですか。
生徒の中にはそれを飲んだことのある人も結構いました。
その医療の名は「ロリオンド」。発祥の地の名前に由来するそうです。
なんと・・・そんなものがあるのか・・・。
その日から決めていました、絶対行くと。
そして８月某日、念願の呪術師に会いに
友人１名・生徒２名とともにロリオンド
の村に行ったのです。

Hello. How are you?
I would like to talk about the first part of a story.
Every morning there is a morning assembly of all the students
in my secondary school.
What they should do is defferent depending on a day and on Tuesdays the speech should
be made by 4-5 students in English.
However poor someone is in English, he/she has to go to the center of all the students and
say at least "Hello."
One day, one of the second formers was making a speech.
He has higher ability to speak English than other students, but I could not
understand well what he was saying because of his strong accent.
His topic seemed to be about where to go when we get sick.
He was saying,
"When you have disease, you go to a dispensary or hospital. If you can't recover there,
you can go to blahblah(←I couldn't catch the word.) . ****** can cure any disease such
as HIV・・・ "
What? What did he say?
HIV can be cured? No kidding...!
After the gathering, I went to ask him the detail.
Guess what, he was talking about "a witch doctor", not a doctor who treats patients
besed on the knowledge of Western medical care.
Many students tell me a witch doctor is the one who the god qualified to make a special
medicine and once you take that medicine, you can recover from any disease.
I heard a witch dictor living in the northern part of Tanzania is originally very famous
throughout this country, but another qualified witch doctor is in a near village less than
10km away from my village!!
Actually some of my students have experienced that medicine there.
The name of that medical treatment is "Loliondo", which is from the name of a birhthplace
of it.
Oh my godness....
On that day I decided to go there.
And then after long time of desire, at last I went to meet the witch doctor with one of
my friends and two of my students on a certain day of August.
