Sep. 16, 2008 (China Knowledge) - Google Inc, the world's largest search engine company, has invited Taiwan-based computer maker Asustek Computer Inc to jointly develop the Android platform for its new intelligent-oriented handset model, as per industry sources.

On Sep. 5, Asustek has unveiled its first touch-screen handset Asus P552w, which features the latest Asustek-grown 3D touch user interface, in a bid to strengthen its penetration in touch-screen smartphone segment. Asustek expected to start volume shipments of the P552w in the fourth quarter of this year, said sources.
