窓

「建築とは何だ」と問うたとき「窓があるもの」という答えは非常に説得力がありますね。窓は建築にとってもっとも重要な部分です。ここでは窓について考えてみましょう。
まず第一に窓は壁に開けた「孔」ですね。この「孔」によって内部空間が成立するのです。初めに閉じた暗闇の世界があった。そこに一つの「孔」を穿つ。暗闇が光で照らされ、空気が満ちる。こうして内部空間が成立する。然るに、閉じた暗闇に内部空間をつくりだすものが窓である。こんな風に言えますね。
第二に、窓は「取り入れ口」です。内と外のやり取りのために必要な働きを担う部分といっていいかも知れません。外の様子を知る。温度、湿度、音を取り込む。もし窓がなかったら中は密室です。逆に自分が屋外にいるのなら、目の前の箱が中の様子を伺い知ることのできない謎のブラックボックスになってしまいますね。
第三に、窓は「建物の外観」を特徴づけます。大きな窓。小さな窓。それだけで建物の印象は大きく変わります。そしてかたちによっても建物の外観は表情ががらりと違ってきますね。
第四に、窓は「窓口」です。これは比喩的な話と思ったほうがいいかもしれません。窓は２つに分離された場所の「窓口」となったとき、相互のやりとりを可能にします。異なる２つの場所は窓を通じて関係をもち、それぞれの空間は質が生じ得る契機を獲得するのです。あるいはこう考えてもいいでしょう。タブララサの状態、つまり何もない、まったくの白紙状態の世界に、ただそっと窓を置く。それだけで２つの場の存在を暗示することができる。これは１つの空間が２つに分節されることを意味しますね。興味深い観点だと思います。

window

Window is the very special part of architecture. As a functional element, window is the opening of the body of structure and introduces fresh air and natural light from outside. Also we can see outside world through the window. It provides a view and informations what are going on outside into the room. And it can play crucial role in the appearance of building. Window's shape would determine the facAde, face of building, and decide how that structure looks like. These are all essences for architecture. But more than this in the metaphysical way the window can give an interesting effect. If it is set up on "Tabura Rasa" condition, meaning there is nothing, very white and void, the window will get to be a frame which divides one space into two. And between this space and that space through the frame it can give a possibility for interchanging of something. This separation by the window means occurrence of two different spaces where things can be exchanged. The important point is in the function of traffic between here and there. The window should indicate the evidence something interchanged through the window. So in the imaginary sense the window is the metaphor that two different spaces have certain relationship each other on the neutral condition. On the other hand a wall can give only a meaning of separation.
