ヒューマンスケール

ヒューマンスケールとは、建築やまちに対して、大きさに違和感がなく身近に感じ、その細部を十分把握できると思えるようなスケール感でしょうか。人間の感覚的な尺度だと思います。我々は目の前のものが、自分の身の丈に合っていると、安心するものです。例えば椅子や机などの家具はヒューマンスケールの基準になるでしょう。
もっと即物的に考えると、人間のサイズを170cmと仮定すると、建築ならその３倍まで、まちならその50倍まで、というようにヒューマンスケールを定量化できるかも知れません。実は、コルビュジェの「モジュロール」はこの発想に近いのです。家具から都市計画までを「モジュロール」に基づいてデザインすれば、ヒューマンスケールにのっとった、能率的で美的な生活環境が実現するはずでした。

sense of scale in immediacy

Human being can get to know how big the structure is which he is looking at by means of five senses. This might be instinct feeling but always hit a right size. Scope of eyes is limited but others like auditory sense would help eyes measure the scale. When people stands in front of the building in practice, he feels the sense of scale through his body not only eyes.
