野坂昭如氏の偽悪趣味は健在でした

ご本人から、偽悪趣味とはなんだと、お叱りを受けるかも知れませんが、野坂さんらしさが、随所に織り込められている｢花嫁の父｣を読んで、真っ先にうかんだ言葉でした。あいも変わらず、表面上は、過激なことをおっしゃる。娘の結婚式で、新郎新婦にあて、メッセージをと、ビデオを向けられたとき、｢早く別れろ｣と、つい、言ってしまった、というのです。ほんとうに、しょうがない父親ですね。

先の2月14日のブログで紹介した毎日新聞掲載の“野坂昭如の『七転び八起き』”シリーズ連載の2回目（2月27日）のタイトルが｢花嫁の父｣というものでした。家族がお撮りになった写真に、次女亜未さんとバージンロードを歩く野坂さんの晴れ姿が映っています。バージンロードを無事につとめた由、野坂さん、恰好いいですよ。私なんか、足がつっちゃいましたけど。

野坂さんは、2人のの娘さんをもつ。長女麻央さんは、もう1男1女の母となっています。野坂さんは、子供が生まれたとき、恐ろしくなったという。少年時代、2人の妹を亡くしているからだ。その１人は、戦争に負けたため、餓死しています。その経緯については、野坂昭如著『火垂るの墓』にくわしい。戦火を生きる兄と妹との悲しい物語です。

ここで、またも、野坂さんは自虐的なものの言いをします。｢だが、ぼくはあんなにやさしい兄ではなかった。それが証拠に自分は生きている｣と。

野坂さんは、子供を育てていて、非常に恐かったという。成長すると、娘は死んでしまうのではないかと不安にかられ、娘の寝顔に手をかざし、その息づかいを確かめたこともありました。｢ぼくは、幼い娘たちを子供扱いはしなかった｣と書いて、続いてここでも、照れが出てしまう。｢さらに云えば、どう接していいか判らなかったのだ｣と。野坂さんの面目躍如。

どうしたらいいか判らないから、傍から見れば馬鹿げた所業に出てしまうこともあります。
｢長女とホテルで食事の際、店の一番高いワインを頼み、次女が15歳の時は、マキシム・ド・パリで食事をした。これには、ぼくなりの深謀遠慮があった。これで、つまらぬ男に騙されることはないはず。父としての配慮だった｣。ピンポーン！　父親の娘への一番の願いは、へんな男に騙されないことですから。

野坂さんは、｢早く別れろ｣と口が滑ったと言うけれど、父親の娘びいきで、新郎がダメな男なら、何もしがみついていないで、さっさと別れてしまえという、本音が短縮されて発露されてしまったものでしょう。元花嫁の父には、よく判ります。いずれにせよ、野坂さんは、愛情の深いお父さんですよ。
