LONDON WETLAND CENTRE. Good, def place to hang out. This is one of my favourite place to hang out which has wetland as literally says, you can observe semi-natural birds and animals. Good thing about here is because even in the weekend there are less people coming here and no young people, so that its so quiet that you can relax pretty well. People carries binocular telescope in one hand try to find interesting birds around. It also nice place to observe airplanes coming into land to Heathrow.
LONDON WETLAND CENTRE。ロンドン、テムズ川沿いにある渋い遊び場所だ。自分のかなり気に入っている遊び場の１つでその名の通り湿地帯があり、そこで半野生化した野鳥とか水辺の動物を観察することができる。ここの良さは何せ若い人がほとんどいない事。野鳥が好きな結構なお年寄りが双眼鏡を片手に集まっていて、なんとも和やかでリラックスできる。子供連れの家族が多いのもよい。アジア人もほぼいない。遊び場と言っても遊ばず、ただ黙ってそこにいて疲れを癒すだけ、それだけで１０ポンドはまあ高い。まあでもいい。丁度頭の真上にはヒースローに着陸する飛行機が通り過ぎる。バードウォッチング＋飛行機を眺めるのにも良いかも知れない。久し振りの晴れだったから思い切って出掛けた。風が吹きっぱなしで肌寒いが、ススキやら水辺の草木が揺れて何ともよい気持ちだった。
このgoose|ガン達はきちんと正面を向いて人と対面する。人の顔をみて「あれが顔だ」と解っているようです。
After that, i wanted to rest a bit more. I slid into National Gallery just 20 minutes before closing to see paiintings by Nicolas Poussin, "Landscape with a Man killed by a Snake", and Joseph Wright of Derby, "An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump". It was my first graduation thesis which written about architect Philip Johnson and his life through one of his painting, "Funeral of Phocion", but it was miserably failed. But since i met a book written by T.J. Clark "The sight of Death" which is written in a diary format that he attempt to depict one drawing, "Landscape with a Man killed by a Snake" by visiting the museum every day and explain the drawing from different aspect. i met this book in library before but recently i bought old one of this. This will be an important reference to rewrite the thesis someday. Joseph Wright, his painting is said as candle painting. Thoroughly realism. Completely different way of recognizing light compare to the paintings by Turner next to this room. I can feel mysteriousness of science through the painiting. "Science" is a topic in this drawing which well matches with the philosophy of realism.
続けてどっかで休もうと夕方にはナショナルギャラリー閉館ギリギリに滑り込み、ニコラス・プッサンの「蛇のいる風景」と、ジョセフ・ライト・オブ・ダービーの「空気ポンプの実験」を見た。プッサンのある絵「フォキオンの葬送」を取り上げ、建築家フィリップ・ジョンソンという人間と建築を語ろうと昔の卒業論文で試みたが見事に失敗。その後手つかずになっていたが、T.J ClarkのThe sight of Deathという一冊に出会って再び書き直してみたくなった。この本は日記のようで、筆者が毎日美術館に通っては同じ絵「蛇のいる風景」の前に立ち続け、毎日異なったアプローチで絵を描写・分析している。これを以前サラッと読んでこういう解釈の仕方があるのかとはっとした。図書館で読んだその本が欲しくて最近古本を購入した。論文書き直しのための重要参考文献になると思う。「空気ポンプの実験」の作者はキャンドルライト画の人だ。徹底的なリアリズム絵画。隣接する部屋に展示されているターナーとは全く別の光の捕らえ方だ。その時代における科学というものがいかに神秘的だったかが伝わってくる。絵のトピック「科学」の果てにあるものとリアリズム絵画の目指す方向性がうまく交わっている。
