梅雨も明けて祇園祭の山鉾巡行も無事終了した途端に、
毎日晴天が続いている今日この頃です。
そんな暑〜い毎日の中、ワークショップでは今年も熱い企画を開催いたします！
その名も、、、
「マンガが描きたい！」

『マンガを描くのが好き。でも分からないことがいっぱい…。』という方にピッタリ！な企画です。
今年は全4コースを展開。
しかも先生は全員プロの作家さんです！
Ａコース「マンガを作ろう」
マンガを描くといえばコレ！
マンガを描く工程(原稿用紙への下描きからマンガ完成まで)が体験できます。
マンガ家の先生とやりとりしながらマンガを完成させる体験ができるコースです。
昨年開催し、ご好評を得た人気コース。
アンコールにお応えして今年も開講します！
Ｂコース「カラーイラストを描こう」
こちらも昨年大好評だったコースです。
マンガでカラーイラストを描く時に使う画材といえば、やっぱり「コピック」。
今回は更に画材を増やしてバージョンアップ!!使ってみたいけど、ちょっとテクニックがいる画材「エアブラシ」が使えます！
自分で作ったオリジナルキャラクターにプロも愛用しているカラー画材「コピック」＆「エアブラシ」を自由に使って、イラストを完成させるコースです。
※このコースは満席となりました。
Ｃコース「パソコンで色をぬろう」
パソコンを使って、デジタルでのマンガイラスト作画ができ、アナログとは違う作画体験ができるコースです！
作画ソフト「SAI」とペンタブレットを使って、デジタルイラストを描きます。
ソフトの使い方から、効果的なぬり方のテクニックまでを先生が丁寧に指導してくれます。
これを機会にデジタルデビュー☆してみませんか!?

Ｄコース「似顔絵を描こう」
似顔絵の描き方をゼロから学べるコースです。
基本の顔の描き方から、応用の「似せるポイント」まで、先生が分かりやすく教えてくれます。
目や口のパーツを使いながらクイズ形式で楽しく学べて、しかも“ため”になる授業内容になっています！

Summer vacation special workshop "Want to be a Manga Artist!"

It's been sunny everyday since the rainy season has ended.
We are throwing a workshop that is as hot as the summer over here.
"Want to be a Manga Artist!"
is a perfect workshop for people who like making manga but don't know what to do. We have 4 courses and all of the tutors are professionals.
Course A "Let's make own manga!"
If you want to start making manga this corse will suit you. You can learn the process of making manga from draft to finish product from manga artist. This course was one of the popular courses from last year.
Course B "Let's paint on your manga illustration"
This was another popular course from last year that you can learn how to use color materials like copic pens. You will learn air brushing techniques this year to complete your illustration.
*This course is Overcapacity.
Course C "Let's make a digital Manga!"
On this course you can learn how to make illustration using a computer. You will work using a software called "SAI" and a pen tablet to draw digital illustration. The tutor will teach all of the details of how to use the software and how to make use of effective coloring techniques . Why don't you try the digital format this time?
In cooperation with Wacom Company, Limited. and SYSTEMAX Software Development.
Course D "Let's draw portrait!"
This course will teach you how to make a portrait. The tutor will teach you the basic skills and explain how you can draw. You will learn how to create accurate likeness of the person you are trying to draw.

色紙の新しい使い方！

「色紙」というと、思い浮かぶのは“サイン色紙”ですが、絵を描く画材としての色紙をもっと身近に感じていただきたい！ということで、京都色紙短冊協同組合様との共催により、色紙にマンガやイラストを描いてもらうワークショップ「色紙にマンガを描こう！」を、2010年5月15日（土）〜7月4日（日）の土日祝、計16回に渡って開催しました。
インクが色紙ににじんだり、しみこんだりする独特の紙質を体感しながらの楽しい内容となりました。
作画テーマは「未来のボク、私」。
普段描き慣れない「色紙」を使うことによって、従来のマンガ・イラストの発想をより柔軟にしてもらい、また、色紙の持つ利便性と可能性を体感してもらいました。
集まった作品の中から、協同組合40周年記念として各賞を選び、8月1日に「組合賞」「知事賞」「市長賞」など、計12賞の表彰式および、8月7日まではそれらの展示が実施されます。

Do you know "Shikishi" ?

Shikishi is a kind of paperboard which is commonly known for its square shape made with Japanese washi paper. People often use it as autograph board. However to find creative view of using shikishi we held a workshop from May 15th until July 4th this year with Kyoto Shikishi Tanzaku Cooperative.
Workshop was held 16 times every weekend and many people enjoyed special texture of Shikishi.
The theme was "Myself in the future".
By using Shikishi which isn't commonly used for drawing, people could experience the possibility and utilization of Shikishi that could be more flexible than usual manga or illustration.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cooperative we organized a competition and winning entries will be exhibited from Aug 1st until 7th.

Place : entrance of the Kyoto International manga museum

えむえむゆかたウィーク、明日まで！
京都に夏の訪れを告げる祇園祭も、本日の山鉾巡行で一番の盛り上がりを見せています！昨夜の宵山では、それまで見舞われた雨も何とか持ち直し、大勢の観光客で賑わっていました。
全国的な大雨の中、京都も例外なく降雨が続いていましたが、山鉾の組み立ては例年通り進められました。
飾りつけの形が将棋の駒に似ていることから「駒形提灯」と呼ばれる山鉾の提灯も、祇園祭の風情を一層引き立たせていますね。
山鉾巡行も無事に終え、近畿地方は梅雨が明けました！
えむえむでは、明日まで「えむえむゆかたウィーク」を実施しております。
ゆかたを着用の方は、入場料が無料！ぜひ、明日はゆかたでご来館ください！！

MM Yukata week finishes tomorrow (18th July).

Gion Matsuri (Gion festival) brought us summer, and today was the day of Yamahoko Junko (Yamahoko procession). Yoiyama (night time festival that was on last night) had no rain, we are sure many people had good time there.
Yamahoko were all built as usual even we had heavy rain nearly everyday over here in Kyoto.
Komagata chochin (the paper lantern) made the festival atmosphere nicer.
Now Gion Matsuri is over and also the rainy season has gone too!
We are holding MM Yukata (Japanese summer kimono) week until tomorrow. If you come to museum with Yukata on then the admission fee will be free so please put Yukata on and visit us.
(However you will need to pay for the special exhibition if you are willing to see it.)

◆Kaodama in Kyoto Machinaka Square.
Kaodama which were made by an artist Ishii Tatsuya have been exhibited in many places in Kyoto and the museum is one of the exhibition sites.

土偶は太古のフィギュアだった？！特別展開幕！！
夏の特別展「フィギュアの系譜―土偶から海洋堂まで」が昨日より始まりました！
フィギュアの展示会は季節を問わず全国的に良く見られますが、今回は一味違った展示構成でフィギュアをご紹介します！
本展では、太古の土偶や埴輪（はにわ）、お茶の間に飾られているこけし、子どものころ遊んだ「リカちゃん人形」や「ロボットプラモデル」もすべて、現在のフィギュアにつながる＜人形＞文化の中で発展していったものと捉えて、日本の＜人形＞文化の歴史を紹介した上で、現代フィギュアの代名詞でもある海洋堂フィギュア作品を一堂に集めた内容になっております。
初日にあたる昨日は、食玩フィギュアで一世を風靡した株式会社海洋堂所属のフィギュア原型師・BOME氏と、アニメなどのサブカルチャーを下敷きにした奇抜な作品などでも海外で高く評価されている現代美術アーティスト・村上隆氏のトークショーが開催され、会場内の座席もほぼ埋まるほどの大盛況振りでした！
特別展会場は、２階ギャラリー１・２・３です。
１階エントランスを通り抜けると、早速、BOME氏のフィギュアがお出迎え。階段をのぼり、ギャオスが睨みを効かせる長い廊下を通り抜けると、特別展会場の入口で大魔神がお出迎え！
会場に入るまでに、気分がどんどん盛り上がっていきます！
会場は２部構成になっており、前半は現代のフィギュアへと至る日本の人形の歴史を兵庫県立歴史博物館が所蔵する「入江コレクション」資料を中心に紹介し、後半は海洋堂の歩みとその製品を通して、現在、世界的に評価の高まっている日本のフィギュア文化が一望できるようになっています。
なお、会場の入口およびミュージアムショップでは、本展の企画構成を担当した研究員によるとても詳しく分かりやすい解説付きのパンフレットを販売しております。一部３００円とお求めやすくなっております！
そのミュージアムショップでは、本展のチラシ・ポスターイメージになっている江口寿史氏の「ドグちゃん」をあしらったＴシャツや海洋堂のフィギュアなど、豊富な品揃えでお待ちしておりますよ。
目玉商品は、三国志フィギュア・川本喜八郎コレクションが、なんと６割引での特価販売！ほかには、竹宮惠子氏『地球へ…』の個展限定フィギュアも特別に取り扱っております。

This summers special exhibition has started! You can find figures in the exhibition in Japan often but we are going to show you our different point of view.
In this exhibition we are showing you how figures came to be accepted in Japanese culture throughout the history. The exhibition starts with Haniwa and Dogu which are the clay figures from the arch era, then it will take you to the present day with Kaiyodo figure works.
On the first day of the exhibition we had a talk by figure sculptor BOME from Kaiyodo and contemporary artist Takashi Murakami who combines art and Japanese sub-culture.
The special exhibition is held at the gallery 1,2,3 in the museum. When you go through the entrance of the museum you will find figures which were created by BOME, as you go up stairs you will find Kaijyu staring at you and when you walk pass that you will see a Daimajin in front of the gallery. You will feel very welcomed for sure!
The exhibition is divided into two sections, the first section is with Irie collections which are owned by Hyogo prefectural museum of history where you can see the history of figurines in Japan. In the second section you will find out how Kaiyodo progressed until today with their poplar works.
You can also buy a booklet to accompany of exhibition in the entrance of the gallery and the museum shop.
In the museum shop you can buy Dogu chan (a character we have on the poster of the special exhibition) T-shirt and also Kaiyodo figures.
We have reduced the price of the Sankokushi series from Kihachiro Kawamoto collection (these are 60% off), we also have limited figures of Keiko Takemiya so hurry up and get them!
