We ALL are caught up in the system of killing/murdered, wasting/disposed and selecting/excluded...

Join us, WAR-RESISTERS’ FESTA 09
Call for your endorsement

War-Resisters’ Festa has been annually held around the late autumn since 2004. It was almost a year ago when we had the last festa with a slogan “Who’s the Boss? It’s THEIR War” was held and here’s the festa time again!
We, the festa committee, are preparing for War-Resisters’ Festa 09 on 28th and 29th November at Yotsuya Square (yotsuya hiroba), which program including workshops, forum and a demonstration. Now, we call for your endorsement and taking part in the festa committee.

As for the current politics, the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) got in power by a landslide victory in the general election in August. We are concerned about the new government’s policy on security for the situation where Israeli genocide against Palestine still goes on and the Obama Administration shifted their battlefield from Iraq to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, xenophobia against foreign residents and Koreans has explicitly emerged among grassroots people in the Japanese society. It seems that the long-time current of historical revisionists and discontent from economic downturn find an outlet in mobilizing a number of racist/fascist demonstrations.

In connection with recent wars and discrimination, poverty has become more serious. Particularly, dispatched workers are hit hard by job cuts as well as kick-out from company accommodations. People staying and surviving at day-labourers town and parks have faced evictions, which tells us how logic of capitalism and ‘public safety and security’ excludes people from the city and devastates our community.

On the other hand, counter movements have extended throughout Japan. In this moment, will you walk ahead into a society of hate as the government and right -wings agitate people into it, or toward a society of diversity in which people living together hand in hand?

We will never be defeated without making our voices heard. Maximize our imagination and invent RESISTANCE for changing the world toward a better future. Why don’t we tackle the problems with war and poverty in creating a place to express and exchange our ideas and hope? We call for your participation!
