Microsoftサポートセンターとのやりとりの例

運良く、今回の件でサポートセンターとのやりとりを詳細に記しているものをみつけましたのでご紹介させて頂きます。サポートセンターへの質問者はMesich氏。Mesich氏は長年にわたってWindows98のサポート系のWebサイト「Windows98 Tips & Tricks」を運営している人ですので信頼できるでしょう。

結論を先に言えば、「Microsoftとしては問題を認識していおり問題を解決するために動いているところです。なにか問題が出て解決したいならば今回のupdateを取り除いてください。MicrosoftはWin9XのWindowsupdateのページから(MS05-002を)はずすために動いています。」ということです。もしも不具合を感じているならば、私が思うに、既に多くのサイトでも指摘されているようにSafeモードで起動してMS05-002をアンインストールしても良いでしょうし、アンインストールが出来ないならば、スタートアップフォルダーからKB891711.exeを取り外し、さらにmscongifを起動させてRUNSERVICEからもKB891711.exeをはずす手順でよいでしょう。そしてMicrosoftからの正式な対応を忍耐強く待つ必要があります。問題の脆弱性は不正な画像やアニメーションカーソルによるものですので、ActiveXやActiveスクリプトのオフだけでは解決できません。適切なアンチウイルスソフトの最新版やアンチスパイウェアの最新版などで対応できている可能性がありますからそちらを補助的に使うと同時に、信頼できないサイトのページにはアクセスしない自衛策が必要となります。

それでは以下にサポートセンターとのやりとりをご紹介します。サポートセンター自体が混乱していますので会話中で触れられている解決策には信を置く必要はありません。参考程度に留めておいてください。特にWin9xとWinMeの為のものではなくてWin98SEの為のアップデートであるとまたもや言っています。マジかよ。（汗）のあたり。英文ですがご容赦を。

Hello everyone,
I have contacted Microsoft after seeing the problem on several of my clients computers, reading through this thread, several others on Computing.net and on other forums.

I shall try and keep this as brief as possible.

I called the 1-866-PCSAFETY number and first spoke with a person in customer service. After telling them of the problems with the update, I was told that they could not assist me because they could not access the "tools" on their computer. I couldn't resist and asked if they possibly installed the KB891711 Critical Update, as it might be the problem. :-)

I just got a chuckle and was told to call back in a few minutes and talk with another someone else that could access the "tools".

I called back and gave all the information again, including the problem, my zip-code, my full name, and my telephone number.

They said they would have to transfer me to a technician and asked if I could hold while they created a case#. I responded "certainly". After about 5 minutes they said, " There is a problem with the system and I cannot give you a case number". "I will transfer you to a technician and you need to ask them to create one". Maybe they installed the update also. :-)

I said sure and waited about 30 minutes on hold for a technician. Finally, Kevin responded and asked for all of the information again.

Here is how I described the problem to Kevin, a representative of Microsoft. The italics below is my comments and Kevins' are not in italics.

This is a quote from Kevin, a Microsoft Technical Representive;

"Microsoft is aware of the problem, and is resolving the issue". Remove the Critical Update from the computer to resolve any issues. We are also in the process of removing it from the updates page for Win9x.

以上の話では、Win98SE用のMS05-002であった可能性を示唆しています。（信をおく必要はありません。公式発表ではありません。）Microsoftでは対応中なのでしょう。具合が悪ければMS05-002をはずしてMicrosoftからの知らせを待つのがよろしいかと。
